Mayfairs, you mean the men’s magazine? Not that I’ve ever looked through one of course, just remember them from the top shelf in the newsagents ( being vertically challenged I could never reach them)

A mate of mine used to buy Mayfair mags & his mum used to go on about disgusting dirty magazines & such like, then one day she quoted an article that the only place she could have seen it was in Mayfair. She had been reading it on the QT when she was on her own. She also washed his coat one day, took a packed of Johnny’s out of the pocket, washed coat & replaced them. He knew she had as they were in a different pocket. She never said a word. Lovely lady, recently died aged 100.

Sometime in, I think, the late 1970's when I worked in magazine publishing, I applied for the post of Art Director on Penthouse Magazine, the Bob Guccione affair, although, it was owned by Richard Desmond of Northern and Shell when I applied.

I was offered the job but by then I'd learned more about the job and the responsibilities.
Six photo shoots a week, source the models and the locations, direct the shoots and overseer the production of the magazine.
I knew I could never do a proper job of all that, so I politely declined, thanking them for seeing me and apologising for wasting their time.

My wife was absolutely OK with me taking the job if I'd wished too.

I'll say nothing of Mr Desmond or Northern and Shell, there's plenty on the Internet about both, Penthouse, their Pets and Bob Guccione.

Over the years' of Penthouse's' publication, they had some really serious writers, the list is lengthy. I think they were the first magazine to feature public hair, there were other 'firsts' but I won't go there.

These finally arrived today, new wrenches for the ER collet nuts. I just gotsick of the C spanners slipping off, decided to go all in, my first "bearing wrench" and so far, so good. Plenty of grip and easy to manage with oily hands:

Those won't work with bearing nuts though? They all seem to have the slots at the rear.

I have had a NOS Toyota Front Fog-Light kit "somewhere" for nearly a year now, and finally located it at a time when I was free to actually have a crack at fitting it...

The results are good, but it was more hassle than I bargained for.

An interestingly dubious right - angled air micro die grinder, which may be of some use, somehow or another.
Got a straight bodied one, which seems quite reasonable, and the right -angled one might be useful enough for two stroke porting, perhaps.

Now to find the manuals and see exactly what they are!

Took a while getting around to using these (reasons, lots of reasons ) but I've a matching transmitter & receiver out of this lot set up and working with a safety edge on the most critical edge.

Even the translations from Italian in the online manuals were fine.

Worth the I think £40 it was that I paid for the lot just for the two working so far.

Been looking everywhere for my adflo charger...and of course something I was previously looking for gets found!!!!

I promised this evolution power file body to someone on here who had a broken one...but it's been so long I can't remember who it was!!!

Yesterday- a spares or repairs M18 girder and batteries from flebay, I won the auction at £57.

To my surprise the batteries - whilst dirty- worked perfectly. So I stripped them down for a thorough cleaning and swapped in a spare better condition lower case.









Batteries entered gen pop with some of my others -



Grinder has failed bearings which I was hoping for as then I can fix it! Totally stripped down, cleaned and bearings ordered along with a new trigger as the safety catch spring is broken on the original one.



Grinder will be rebuilt this week when the bearings arrive and fingers crossed will be good. That'll be my 3rd M18 grinder. One for wire wheel, one for slitting disc and one for flap discs when doing my rust repairs will speed things up.

Its handy - I got it on ebay someone 3d prints them. Good to keep the batteries organised. I also use the batteries in a clockwise fashion from the caddy that way they all get discharged and recharged to keep them healthy.

i made a clip that slides onto DIN terminal rail to hold dewalt cells.i have some screwed on a shelf in my van

Car boot sales have started again, and among all the junk a chap had loads and loads of plastic selection boxes of parts and sundries, fiver each, all from an old-style garage. I picked these two, and the little box was another quid. The connectors are Ripaults-style that are used on seventies Vauxhalls, and well worth the price, I've got loads of the terminals to go in them.

The rest might have been handy, or might have been hanging around in the shed for decades without ever being used.

Where do you buy your bearings? Most of the suppliers charge high carriage for NI.
I was using simply bearings but they now have a minimum order price to get cheap carriage.
