A few weeks ago one of the other unit holders moved out, and dumped a load of stuff in his skip. I had a dig around as you do, and there was a plastic box full of water with some power tools. I dug this out:

thinking that at worst it might donate the mains flex as the one on my die grinder is breaking up around the end of the strain relief. I left it to dry out, and yesterday I tried it and it works just fine. I might take it to bits and clean it out before using it,

It's had a wash, isn't that good enough?

What's your soil like there?

Here any post hole is an oh so slow nightmare. We use a pto on the back of a tractor driving a 12" auger. There's guaranteed big flints to knock the hole off course for a start. Doing our front fence I lost count of how many shear pins went on the auger.

Could do with one of those big heavy axe bladed, shovel type things for roots too.

Clay with bricks, rubble,quartz, flints, roots. The auger will go through thinner stuff, extract half bricks ok and cut roots upto 1/2" no problem, if you hold on tight.

A sharpened peice of 6mm steel, 70mm wide on the end of a bar would be great for cutting through and smashing stuff.
Sharpened pickaxe was essential for getting the ivy roots out.

However if your replacing, then you already have a nice hole, you just need to lift them out with the concrete. I imagine the tool to use is a high lift farm jack type thing

We've a spot locally called the scrapstore, basically they get donated random stuff and the arty types craft with it all. They often get industrial consumables that are say an overstock and they go there rather than in the bin.

Was there today for a Christmas thing with the kids, had a look in the shop, boxes of massive o rings, random o rings, loads of seals, some 190mm od...

Would have been rude not to grab some, had a quick search and the 190mm ones go for 36 quid on wych bearings, paid 7 quid for a supermarket basket full of these and a load of stuff for the boys to craft with...

Having a bit of a sort around in the shed and have acquired a fair amount of space!
Moved the bike lift aka another bench, to the wall. Means the Tetris of space game can begin.
I'll be getting a draw cabinet for underneath for more storage.


Bought this infill cheapo for side wall which I can use for consumables currently in boxes and a pain to get what's needed.
Not at all bad for the money.

I went to Lidl this afternoon. Unfortunately I spent about 25 minutes queueing 400m along the road to get there (it's off the main road to Tesco and what passes for the retail park, not everyone was going to Lidl), watching a similar hardly-moving queue coming back the other way. It took so long to get to a side road that I was almost there by the time I could have given up, and the traffic lightened a bit and the place itself wasn't packed. They had loads of tools, but no nibblers, and no labels on the shelf to suggest that they'd had some and sold them all. Oh well. I'll have another look in there at the weekend.

I hate them because they are everything but quick and everytime I ended up having to adjust them multiple times prior to get them to clamp on the workpiece.
But they are the way to go if you need to keep things firmly in position the clamping force is way higher than regular clamps.
Said that I still hate them.

I could take your Nibbler off your hands and put it on the same shelf as my plasma cutter….. which is also unused. Does the phrase “ that’ll come in handy” spring to mind?

That's unlikely to happen we should remind to not buy something when we think about those words.

My plasma cutter too used once to gouge and cut a bucket used maybe for less than a quarter hour.
Never used again.
Nibbler used once but I've got it for free so not a problem

Got a workbench for Christmas.
It has a little shelf and tool wall, plus a big drawer and a lower shelf.
Thin 6mm MDF top Will be soon replaced with a proper top.
It should be around 600x1200x900mm plus the upper section.
I'm happy to have received it but sad to have to get rid of my homemade pallets bench I've made many years ago.
And it's currently the bench you see in my videos.
I'll try to relocate things to save it because despite it's made out of recycled materials it's a lot heavy duty with 50mm (25+25mm boards in cross pattern), 50x100mm legs and cross members under the bench top

Christmas gift for my brother

He's years trying to save money for a wood lathe, but he main while got 3 children, and lots of things to pay he never managed to justify it
So I went to my local Lidl on this morning, I was there before opening.
Went straight to the Parkside lane, I was supposed to buy the other one for 50 euro but then I've walked by this one 119 euro instead of 150, there was the 2 cylinder air compressor too but TBH I have a good effective 270 Litres per minute pump which needs a tank and I've left it there, maybe if it becomes cheaper one day...
Anyways got those too

but made a mistake.
They were displayed in groups of 3 so I've thought

Flat
Got 2 sets of each(one for me and one for my brother)but once home discovered they were torx set and Philips+flat set
So I have 2 regular sets more than what I needed to
No way I'm going back to return them for 8 euro in total

Got a big package from Germany this morning.
The Stihl KM85R finally arrived home.
First thing first, I've turned the engine using the pull cord good compression lots of compression
Then I've quickly examined the overall condition and check the controls.
Everything fine, I've then removed the air filter cover and the filter itself.
Little bit of carb cleaner through the Venturi.
Pulled one single time and immediately started.
So it's a runner, I'll eventually tear it a part.
Clean everything put new gaskets and seals maybe new rings or directly a new piston even though not needed.
I'll build the brush cutter attachment out of cheap parts cause there's no way I'll ever pay more than 200 euro for the genuine one.
