That's a bit overkill, just for telling the time of day.

I am currently looking at the alternative firmware that allows it to be internet connected, so it can get the time from a NTP server.
The main processor used is an Espressif esp32-s2-wroom, so the functionality should be there...

Something I've always wanted, is a Nixie tube clock, but I can't really justify the cost for one, however an advert for a fake one popped up somewhere just before Christmas.

After a bit searching and research, an order was placed, and this box got delivered today-

It uses 6 separate IPS 135x240pixel screens, which can be customised to display whatever images you'd like.
However, I'm more than happy with the default option-

The displays also have RGB LEDs on the rear of them that can be programmed to provide rearward lighting.

And if anybody wants to see how genuine Nixie tubes are made, and/or what they cost, do a search for Dalibor Farny.
Or if you have an interest in old technology in general, it's worth looking at the whole story behind Dalibor Farny as the owner resurrected the production of Nixie tubes.

I’ve got a couple of frequency counter / timers with genuine Nixie tube displays in them.

Approximately how Mausers do. I'll check it in my work, but in those years, the East Germans made good pieces of iron.

There was a good offer for an old Zeus in perfect condition and complete set, but it's too early for me to look in the direction of such tools.

today I acquired

a new Mac tools 13" flex head ratchet in 3/8's back in october the selector lever on my old XRP9 ( 12 yrs plus old to me ) snapped off so asked a few mates in the trade to ask the mac man if the service kits were availible but with no success so I contacted Mac who said no parts for that since 2017 but send it in as warranty and we'll look at . So not holding me breath of it went free post the last week in october .

second week in dec get a call from the warranty dept ,yep it's old and broken we'll send you a new . so I tell the nice man I've already replaced the 9" if I pay the difference could I get the 13" flex .
to which he replied that's what you sent in isn't it , just say yes ! ,so I did it'll be after christmas though he says

so from ups today it arrived .
they even returned the old one the previous week which is normally destroyed .Said it would have to be engraved WR and they havn't done that either nor was I charged the £10.50 return fee
Mac tools I bought the XRP s/h as well ,I'll try and bodge the lever somehow as other than it still works well .
