Both not working, one was a mising fuse. The other a broken wire in the plug.

It is a thin covering over a rusty metal box.

Reminds me had a Puch SDP which I sold for £100 to buy an MZ250 back in the day - what an idiot .. hindsight

Used to watch the JPS going round Brands Hatch as a kid. Evaded security and jumped the fence one time to watch them testing the Tyrrell P34.
Used to go around the Paddock and scrounge JPS, Brabham, Durex stickers and posters etc.
Even saw the Brabham BT46 at the 78 Grand Prix.
Helped that M&Ds garden backed onto the circuit.

A Bahco 625 pocket carbide scraper.
The pros - it made short work of scraping the old Victorian paint off this door. I only intended to spend a couple of minutes on it just to test it...
I had seen people recommend going for the smaller one as you can actually work it faster than the larger one. Having used it, I'd agree with that.
The cons - this is scraper #4.
Bahco do seem to have some issue with the consistency of quality on these. First two I purchased both had the blade retaining screws tapped on the p**s. Not ideal given they are not exactly inexpensive.
Credit to their very helpful customer support, although it took them some time, they did send me out two replacements FOC. One of those was also slightly wonky and one was spot on.
Shame, because if you can get a good one, they do work well though.
