i got one at work and had the chance to use it its way better than my old tanka and also way better than the mountfield i also got and there not that heavyNice bits of kit but they get bloody heavy if you have a lot to do....

That's how I was planning to do mine, if I ever get round to it. It doesn't count as an unfinished project, as I haven't even bought any of the parts yet
I know, I know, I know, nobody can be so stupid to build a new project on an outdated standard,
the new stuff is comparatively much cheaper than the old stuff was back then
and that's the only way to keep your project open to the future and get spare parts for a long time to come .....

BUT:
a) I have had the experience several times that I only found out what I should have bought in reality after buying the expensive components when dealing with them;

b) these parts here were really dirt cheap.

Funny you should say that. I asked for a ladder to get some weeds out the gutters and was told "We get a cherry picker in for that". That is the remains of some sticky solution that covered it and the sliding bevel.I would sling that chuck in the nearest skip ,the morse taper is so pitted it will ruin any spindle its put in to.
