Hayling island Wednesday beach car boot sale today.

Nice little shelf/hanging cupboard.

The sign saying "Don't talk to the driver" has nothing to do with it, that used to hang in a railcar of about this sort

where driver and passengers actually share the same room.

When I was a child you could buy ticktes from the driver ....

... but only when at a standstill! - then the sentence would read:
"Während der Fahrt nicht mit dem Triebfahrzeugführer sprechen" --> "Do not speak to the driver during the drive".

EDIT:
I just remembered a funny detail of these railbuses:
The passenger compartment resembled, due to its simplicity, omnibuses or trolleybuses.
As a little extra, the backrests of the seats could be folded over, for example to sit in the direction of travel or to accommodate a small group vis-à-vis, as required.

When we boarded the rail bus/railcar shortly before the final stop against our intended direction of travel, e.g. to escape the weather earlier, it was always delicious how everyone flipped the backrests of the benches into the other position without any effort to sit forward before the return journey.
