This afternoon I collected the rest of the stuff I bought from my neighbour:

Hinges, the three large ones have never been used, 1.2m long

Some big tensioners and large threaded rod

A lot of mixed steel and, the best bit, the one on the left (next to my current one which is no tiddler):

Taken me all day, to un pack a box I got two weeks ago.
Please bare in mind the box was not given any care in the handling of it.
If I knew then what I new now...........

This is what was in the box.

A right mix of bits.
The most usefull to me are the:
Wire brush, brass gears, hole saw and chain splitter.
The socket is a 1/4 WD Britol socket.

A bit of History.
The tape measure.
The two drill bit holders. one is B&D and the other is Raw Plug. Both have drills is, but I have not looked as yet.

Then at the bottom was this.

I was going to bin the box, the items had been padded with news paper.
Some thing made me poke the paper.

It doesn't fit the lamp, it has a wall thickness of less than 2mm.

Finaly there was this.

Easy enough to shove a rubber mat in front of the lathe etc., & who doesn't have a doormat for wiping their boots on in their workshop, (or am I alone on that one? )?

I have three very thin 600 x 900 fine knit cut loop type rubber backed slip resist mats in my mancupboard .. Not having them makes my feet and legs ache IIRC they were out of B&M for under a tenner each

I get the hammers shafts them from my local hardware shop. It is cheeper and easier that way.

I have made my own in the past, will do again. But for speed I buy in.

When I can afford £300 or so for a new 240v single phase 1/2 hp motor for my lathe I'm hoping to make some out of locally grown ash or white ash .... life is commanding the income for other things at present

Who's charging three hundred quid for a half horse motor? I'd expect to pay about £100, you could get a three phase one, a VFD and still have change from £300 !

I also got the anvil up on the stump with the help of a mate and some ratchet straps - it’s marked 110kg. I now need to find some chain now to quieten it down a bit.

I have one too (the old one from the front door - still get bollocked for getting swarf on the hall mat
