Today I acquired...........

Yet another TomTom, this time an XL with a broken windscreen mount. But, the screen / digitiser is good and the battery is good (the battery in my "main" one has packed up and won't retain a charge) so I'll update it and fashion some sort of mount and it'll be good for one of the classics.

My nephew replaced the rechargeable battery on his mums Tom Tom when it wouldn't re-charge. It lasted a very long time till it was nicked .

Not so much 'acquired' as received. Good news in the course of a phone consultation with the hospital ahead of tomorrow's treatment.

The Kappa protein by which they measure the progress of the cancer has fallen from 1.1 last month, to 0,90 - from last Wednesday's blood analyses. That's as low as it's been since I started on the new treatment. Also, all the other indicators are described as "excellent", inc liver and kidney functions which the Consultant described as "better than we would have expected given the treatments you've had".

Maybe 2022's going to shape up well. Happy boy, me.

Throw the extractors away before you are tempted to use them - if a larger diameter object shears off, then why would drilling a hole in it, screwing in a smaller diameter, hard, brittle object not break rather more easily and jam in there, now making the original job 50x harder . . . ?

Rigid do an amazing screw extractor system using special high tensile shouldered rods that you knock into a precision drilled hole . I've used them many a time ..only ever managed to break one of the smaller extractor rods .. bloody left hand threads .
They are not cheap last time I looked ca. £250 for a decent set .

Spark sensing RPM meter ,I need it for carb tuning on two strokes
3 CEE IEC309 single phase 230V 16A plugs (why order them on Amazon? I wanted the same plugs I already have on my welder just because I like the design, no-one sell them anymore around here)

I had flat batteries on the Surf on Saturday and borrowed a mates NOCO GB40 booster and it just about managed to start it so I've gone for the GB50 and a protective case
Halfords discount and delivered in 48 hours!
I feels like a very nice bit of kit!

I have the stihl one. It’s a good thing. This was pre China through a friendly dealer in 2007 (I just looked at the paperwork in its box) and a lot more than a tenner. At that price (£10) it’s cheap enough to have in a toolbox if you’re a tree guy

i got a battery starter the older type never used it on my own vehicle last week i broken down in the company van 8 hours from home with out the jump starter

I went out to get some 13A plugs, in b&q, couldnt find any. Asked a staff, she came back with round pin 15A plugs I did not know they were still sold or in use.

I found 13a plugs but they were three pounds EACH. As I left I checked the clearance bit where the 15A plugs were..might be useful.

Switches and boxes may be useful for the melter project.
Tempted to fit a 15a socket in the shed for welder and melter.

Then to Aldi for these wall trays, I got two. Should allow me to find a home for amall parts.

You get round pin plugs on stage/theatre installations, I think it's to stop normal equipment being plugged into dimmable circuits. I'm surprised Been&Queued would sell them though.

Back in 1988, the 5A ones were in Manchester uni halls in an attempt to stop you plugging in too much and tripping the breakers. Cleaners used the 15A ones . . . one extension lead later . . .

Underground also uses round pin outlets on some of the stations. We used to have to go to the station manager for an adapter leads back in the day.

With most plugs not being fused, and sockets dont look like they were either, was it left to devices to be fused? Or was each socket wired as a spur back to the fuse box?

There was one in the kitchen in Sheffield uni halls (All the way back in 2017 ), no idea if it was live, I was too, err, busy to check.

Yeah SA still use those, I’ve got a few 3 pin to round adaptors in my come in handy drawer from when I used to work over there a fair bit (and invariably always forgot to pack my adaptor so had to buy another on the next trip )

They were pre ring circuits originally so we’re on radials individually fused at the box, which is what we seem to be going back to. Rings were introduced for several reasons but one was to reduce the amount of copper used In house wiring.
