I have similar experience, I have only given up riding due to arthritis. 37 years in the saddle with nary a broken bone. I also rode trials for many years. Damn I miss itNope, we all had bikes when we were old enough, most beforeLots stayed with bikes for years as the only means of transport, I never sat my car test until I was 21 and never had a car until I was 25 but even then I used the bike most days and was still clocking 12-15,000 miles a year, same with 3 or 4 of my mates.
Two that did move to cars at about 18 didn't live much longer, seemed to think because they were wrapped in a metal cage that they were invincible, one hit a tree the other a dry stane dyke.
I always wanted another bike but other things happened, almost bought a KTM 6** (can't remember) but a van came up at the same time so I thought a van would be the more sensible option, biggest mistake I ever made, van was crap and probably less reliable than the KTM would have beenI have similar experience, I have only given up riding due to arthritis. 37 years in the saddle with nary a broken bone. At least he wouldn't get done for speeding! When I owned a sportster, a bike I still like for my sins, fitted with better ignition, pipes and decent cams, to make it at least respectable, I once went on a ride out with an owners club. It was miserable. They went so slowly they were a danger to traffic, the pillions were taking photos of each other and I nearly fell asleep and dropped it. The point of the ride seemed to be sitting in front of the pub drinking beer and admiring their bikes. Never again. When I rode with American friends many years ago, the traffic were the obstacles that we avoided, not the other way round!I see your point but seriously?![]()

Thats nice, how does it raise up and down?Road trip today, to acquire a Colchester adjustable height work table. Just a couple of minor issues. The cranking mechanism is a little stiff, and needs a new extension cord for the 240v receptacle. I cleaned a couple of spots with some solvent, and the paint underneath on the base looks good, but I'll probably paint the whole thing anyway; not my favourite green though.

I grew up keeping up. Most of my mates had CB250 Hondas. I had a D14 bantam, and I wasn't often the last one to arrive and have to get the round in. Happy days!I remember tagging onto the back of 20 odd sports bikes hammering along on a ride out, when we stopped they were most impressed I'd kept up on my GSXR400. I was so enjoying it I nearly ran out of petrol.
Had the thing flat out a few times!
I had an immaculate early R1 for a year but sold it before I became roadkill or put in prison!
I'm normally pretty laid back but that bike was mental.
I think the car drivers nowadays are the real threat, seeing some of the cretinous driving around London and the M1 I sometimes hope to see them inbedded in the back of an Artic trailer rather someone's small car!
Probably just as well, that wouldn't be enough for a Triumph bike, well it would for maybe a week or two but....A drink for the old Triumph , the lathe not the bike or British car unfortunately
