Can't cast them, they're 304 stainless. I had understood the brewery opened them, but as you can see someone else acquired them before me and left them out free to a good home. Wouldn't stand up in court I suppose but I doubt it would ever go that far, it's not like I was stupid enough to post pictures online.

I doubt the kegs are any use for home brew but they'll make nice crappy upcycled garden seating, could even just cut the top out and make big stainless buckets, always handy.

I saw a stainless steel keg made into a sink when I was in Spain. The top was cut out and welded back in upside down; it looked way cool.

Thanks very much. It contains a patent number that I had never seen before so that is a discovery in itself. It also notes that the older chucks need the nose ring opening out. I have one with the smaller opening and always wondered if I should modify it.

I now have this puzzle to reassemble once I get the required bearings, o-rings, and circlips ordered-

Interesting that it warns, not to grip unmachined bar, or the accuracy will be destroyed!?!
I would imagine the blades are hardened, I dont see how they would be damaged.

Not today, but Thursday I moved my new milling machine into the workshop, got it wired up yesterday (amazingly I got the 3 phases right first time, should have got a lottery ticket!) not used it in anger yet though.

Its a Semco model LC-1 1/2 VS, variable speed bridgeport copy basically, R8 spindle, it's got a riser block, which is nice but does mean it does not fit under my mezzanine where I'd wanted it to go so it's in the front corner of the workshop atm.

A new lid:

My last one (a Shoei) left a big red sore mark on my forehead after a long ride, as did the one before (a Schuberth). I'm hoping this one is going to be better; I tried a lot of different ones from various manufacturers on today and this one was by far the most comfortable. It's never easy to tell from a test in a shop what they'll be like after wearing for a few hours. They don't seem to design many helmets for people with long narrow heads (but then they don't design many things for tall people, so why should helmets be any different?). Looking forward to taking it for a spin - I've never ridden with a peaked helmet before; it'll be intriguing to see what it's like.

Over the years I've had helmets from HJC, Caberg, Schuberth, Shoei and now Arai, I have to say that the visor attachment mechanism on the Arai is by far the most fiddly and awkward! Hopefully I won't need to change the visor very often!

I have a 25 year old Arai and an 8 year old Arai. Both still have the original visors...

What’s the machine?

It's the turret of my old Denford Cyclone lathe. Had a mishap with a boring bar last year, which lead to me buying a new lathe.
If this turret works after re-assembly, I'll probably run the lathe for a couple weeks to make sure it still works fine, then sell it as I don't really need it anymore.
