Today I acquired...........

Not today but recently I acquired a lovely new monitor. I wanted an extra wide one, now I'm working from home constantly I want one half of the screen to be for work, the other for home. I already had a 10 year old 27" screen and not enough room on the desk for another monitor. The 27" screen is now used for the exercise bike, the new 35" extra wide is on my desktop.

Its this one, its come down an extra 20 quid since I bought it about a week ago and I thought it was a bargain before. I thoroughly recommend it. 1 x Display Port and 3 x HDMI on the side so no messing about underneath, VESA mounting (some of these so called gaming screens don't have this). And it's imported by a local company in West Yorkshire.

I've mounted it on a TV arm so I've got more room on the desk, makes a difference when your spending over 30 hours a week sat there Should be good for 3D printing apps.......

I've got the dell uhd 34"....it's excellent....but then it got lonely so I bought a second one. Generally I'm working on 3 or 4 machines at the same time so just easier to have 2 of them and a switch box.

I got a set of very nice desk stands....they are really solid (literally).

A dead TV, I only use it to watch dvd's so it's not that great a tragedy. I suppose I've had my moneys worth out of it , £8 at an auction about 18 months ago. No rush to get another one I've got plenty of books to get through.

Prices seem to vary wildly, but this was the best price for me. Some of the ones advertised on ebay are almost double the price for exactly the same thing .

Really should of bought one for this week, hotel room doesn’t have a fridge.

Found a 3 Plum treeS in a row at the side of the rd today, roadside they were green but on the furloughed felid they were ripe.

The trees were hanging, I picked twice as much as pictured in less than 5mins. Ive eaten the other half.

Came home to find this outside the door, a casual acquaintance had mentioned that his garage had a broken one going spare - but he was not even sure if it was broken. It's a 4 gas analyser as used by MOT stations many years ago to fail your souped up fiesta for having its cats removed..

The problem with ex MOT gas analysers is they need re-calibrating every 6 months and won't work without, you may be able to bypass the recal somehow but I never had success or maybe not enough patience ...........

Seven years ago I sold this mower and sorely regretted it as it was my first restoration project. On Sunday I wondered whether I still had the old emails and I did. I messaged the buyer asking if it was still in their possession, and whether I could buy it back. To my delight, they said I could have it for free as they never used it! I’m very happy, I brought this over from England, it feels very much ‘mine’!

Went to see an old mate, he is old! 80 ish, he showed me his recent purchase, he has just sold his Caterham 7 and bought a 1966 pale blue MGB, the very same 1966 MGB he bought new in, wait, 1966 and had it shipped tax free to Amsterdam where he was working at that time, brought it home a couple of years later, kept if for another couple of years and sold it, saw it had sold a few years ago at auction, tried to contact the purchaser via the auction house to pass on some history but the guy did not want to know, recently saw it for sale in the MG club magazine, bought it back, not quite 1 owner but original owner!

Not cheap but worth it. I love these things, a genuine M&W one too. I think they did three wood varieties, I’m pretty sure this is oak

I've bid on a few of these over the years, never won one yet though. The ones in good condition sell for good money, the ones that need work are something i couldn't be bothered with.

@zx9 @DAPPH New battery being registered to the car when she's in mid-next-week to have lower suspension arms replaced.

Thinking about it, maybe the place which supplied/fitted the 'old' battery missed out registering it to the car. Iirc it might have been an 80A one, replaced by the 90A which has just given up the ghost - that might account for it only lasting 4 years......

With 100A up her rear [they live in the boot ] that ought to be the end of non starting for the foreseeable. There's so much torque in the starter bendix she almost jumps off the road on startup now.

Now I just have to contact the nearest Dealers to sort out the 'Outstanding Safety Recall' which is showing against her. A Dealership 'darn sarf' from which I get a discount on parts tell me it's to do with the IBS and the possibility that the cable(s) may need to be replaced. Pretty good on a 17-year-old car, eh?

Very nice. I'm trying to build up a better collection of metrology kit, can't bring myself to buy unbranded tools so it's going very slowly.
