Today's acquisitions for me were a pair of shiny new wind deflectors for the wagon so I can drive with the windows down without the wind hurting my right ear, and leave the windows down at night and not worry about rain getting in.

And after backing into a yard that was barely big enough for half a dozen Transit vans, (let alone 2 artics with stretched trailers ) and unloading 52 tons of rail, a very happy contractor gifted me a brand new boiler suit. Hi-viz and full rail spec, it's just the job for keeping the rail boys happy .

But as I'm parked in a lay by near Uttoxeter, it's peeing down with rain, and I'm in bed, photos will not be forthcoming .

I got worried when you mentioned "grinder" then felt flooded with relief when I saw the photo's

The engine is minging, EGR was leaking and made a huge mess so this is to try and get the engine cleanish, was recommended by a mate but on arrival it looks like it is just caustic soda

It's good stuff, definitely more to it than caustic soda, I use it in my ultrasound tank.

Came home to find this outside the door, a casual acquaintance had mentioned that his garage had a broken one going spare - but he was not even sure if it was broken. It's a 4 gas analyser as used by MOT stations many years ago to fail your souped up fiesta for having its cats removed..

I think so, it leaves your hands feeling slimy so it must be a bit caustic but it's probably only a problem if you submerge the parts in neat, boiling solution, I wouldn't have a problem using it.

A drawing board T square perhaps ?

Is that a brass edge set in the workface .. if so it could have been part of a Roto Ring drawing set where the pens had open ink reservoirs at the tip end , they were a common sight in a small drawing office in the 60's & 70's the brass strip set in the straight edge stopped you making an ink bridge between the paper & the wood .
The rubbing strip on the stock leads me to thinking this

That’s a start. Mine used to start up fine, you’d start the arc, then the arc would extinguish and the overload would come on. You need to test it really.

Yes, I tried welding welding with it, but no luck in that regard yet. I downloaded the user and service manuals for it. They both say that when all three LEDs are illuminated indefinitely it indicates a short on the secondary circuit.

When I have more time I will take it apart to see what I might find on the various boards in it.

Definitely a drafting (draughting?) t-square.
I use one for routing slots at right angles to a board edge. (As in dados for bookcase shelves).

Got this Parkinsons Model F No.9 vice today. Seems in good condition, with straight handle and no big dents/gouges in the casting. Weight: 116 lb.

the edge is just darker , i thought it was brass but still ok for a freebie

Customer hadn't seen one before until I was using mine a few weeks back.

Rarely use a traditional saw these days.
