I've had a couple where the guys put the nut on upside-down, causes a lot of rude words . Seen a couple have the outer ring explode but that's from abuse not poor design.

I actually had a guy put one on upside down just a few weeks back but thankfully I asked him if he had it the right way up just before he switched the grinder on and it came off easily enough.

Wanted one of these for a long time as it makes the job so so much easier...removing pistons from motorcycle calipers without marking the outside no matter how careful you are. this sits inside the piston and as you tighten the bolt the 3 jaws expand out and go tight enabling you to twist and pull them out very happy with the postman today

I’ve managed to acquire;

1x Alba 1A Shaper in working order
1x Q&S Mechanical Saw in working order
2x Centec Mills in parts

Only minor problem I foresee is the round robin to pick it all up.. York, Wirral and Bristol, on a Sunday!

Goodbye peg spanners I am blaming Ed for this, @sako243 keeps flashing his Milwaukee porn around and I clocked the quick release gizmos on his grinder. Got two for evaluation to try on my lesser units , seem to be the dogs danglers

I bought a used metabo grinder with a quick nut fitted & I can never get it tight enough by hand, it always need a nip up with pipe grips. The new metabo I bought had one fitted so I feared the worst. So far it has worked perfectly but when it gets worn like the old one it will need grips too.

I don't really see much advantage in the quick nuts, I rarely use a pin spanner with a standard nut, just hand tight using the disc for leverage. If you wear a disc down completely you need grips to remove the quick nuts anyway, you might as well use a pin spanner.

Cable tie the pin spanner to the grinder cable at the plug end - stops it getting lost & reminds you to unplug the grinder when changing the disc!

On the bench I would agree, most on here have a few grinders hanging on the bench with the various discs fitted so they just pick up the relevant grinder. I got these for the grinders I use in the yard which I am always swapping between cutting ,grinding and flap discs, only been on there a day and I am liking them so if they hold up I will fit them on everything. They do cost half the price of a cheap grinder so I am hoping they are of decent quality .

I only use the Bosch SDS on the 9 inch grinders, not had a need for them on the 4.5" ones, I think I have only ever needed a key to remove a disc on a 4.5" a few times in 30 plus years.

Cheers fella. Item purchased. Had to do the bandit ones the other day and had to grip them with a pump pliers. As expected some marking to the piston.

yea happened to me a week ago on wife's GSX650F...final straw as i always struggle trying to keep pistons unmarked

I've just discovered Popping them out with an airline.. Its a little haphazard, and its probably worth having some new seals about, but its very fast...

You would if you took a 9" grinder out on site. Cutting springy rebar where you can go through a handful of cutting discs in a few minutes, reaching for that spanner gets old very quickly.

Today I acquired this for a fiver at the boot fair:

Works perfectly, nice and smooth and quiet but I was particularly pleased to find that actual model because last year I bought a nearly-new one so I could rob the rotor and stator out of it to repair a Biax scraper for someone. They only wanted the internals (the green biax uses a Metabo motor) so I got left with the rest of it in a nice shiny box:

So this evening I stripped down the £5 one I bought and put the armature and rotor into the new housing from last year. Now I have a nearly brand new, perfectly working Metabo jigsaw in the box - for a fiver!

Found a powered overarm vertical head off a no4 cedo Cincinnati which will fit my 1943 horizontal I posted a pic of on here. From a dealer so not cheap but it will give me a machine that will be able to machine my monarch saddle
