Went to an industrial supply today to get a carbon-dioxide fire extinguisher and some 7018 rods. All they had were the powder type extinguisher's and a small stray box of 3.2 size 6013 rods. I decided to pass on the extinguishers but bought the cheap rods. A little later in the day we stopped in ALDI's and I noticed there was a bin full of the powder type extinguishers for £ 8.99 each, so I bought a couple as the "two" were much cheaper than the one of the same size at the industrial supply. I'll buy a carbon-dioxide unit and some Bohler rods when I find a source at a good price, but for now I want to have a go with the R-Tech I just bought on stick until I can get situated with an Argon cylinder.

Kind of... I was hooking out the lumps of metal from the old bonfire, Ive bagged up about a tonne of ash and erm stuff to go to the tip, and found this. It's probably been sta there 20 years and I'm amazed its survived.
That's a lovely knife.
I knew if I kept turning over the piles of rubbish here long enough I'd find some treasure.

I know you all like a vice, so here’s one I picked up this morning Record 34. First visit to the local carboot for a long time, but we were passing so dropped in. It looks a bit rough, but it’s actually in great mechanical condition, very little wear and the jaws are near perfect.
£10 I just need to decide why I need another vice that’s all.

Anything that states made in England in my eyes has to be worth more than £10.
Saves someone buying a Chinese copy and giving a quality tool another lease of life.

@Ruffian definitely, I know I don’t need more vices, but these nice old ones are such good quality compared to what you get today and at the prices some people ask. We had a couple of the later record 1 ton vices here for years, I think they came from B&Q, never abused, but the one would slip if tighten too much and the other just got replaced when I set up my workshop.

I pulled this wooden plane from a charity shop today.
But.................
But I wanted the blade.
It is a perfect fit and match.
The cap iron is shot. The blades need a bit of work.

Thought I would try one of these out just for the giggles, my one came from China and only cost a couple of quid, I expected an uncontrollable death trap and a trip to A & E but it was the opposite, I zipped up a pallet for firewood in seconds, and made some accurate cuts in 6 mm ply, the only drawback was the sawdust that covered most of Buckinghamshire this afternoon.

^^^^was cutting slabs 2 weeks ago i looked like a snowman after the first cut its silly as should use water but as i ever make 3or 4 cuts i cant be bothered with the clean up
