Today I acquired...........

Today I was trawling eBay for Myfors parts [the reason for which in my other post here https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/stuff-you-have-made-today.67127/page-198 and came across a set of MT2 e32 collets which would fit the ML7, so I set a max bid at what I thought was a reasonable bid - £46.....and I won them!

They go up to 19mm, not sure what the smallest is but I rarely turn very small parts [so far] and I can always add from Banggood if I specially need later. You can see they appear in very good nick, in fact the Seller described them as "very lightly used" and seven are unused & still in their boxes. If you enlarge it's difficult to make out makers details, but a bit of pic enlargement in P/shop and Google research shows they originated from WNTTools so good, 'proper' German(?) manufacturing [not inferring Cheapenese wouldn't be as good, but......]. They don't seem to make the equivalent sets, but still make collets to take larger work-pieces, so now geared to the professional engineering sector perhaps?

I've sent off to Banggood for this collect chuck holder - paradoxically , but after reading @doubleboost's reports and all the online reviews - 45 give 5-stars [even if you discount half of them, that still seems favourable], with one saying he'd checked run-out at less than 0.002" https://www.banggood.com/ER32-MT2-M...-p-997701.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN Can't go wrong at that price

Excellent deal and yes WNT sells good stuff. Their list prices are sky high but you can usually get a decent discount but even then they are not cheap.

I was thinking about getting a set of those until I found a full set of Burnerd Multisize collets for a very low price - $250. The shape of them always reminds me of the Apollo mission capsules.

I needed to get a special chuck for mine, it’s a fair old lump and wasn’t cheap, lovely engineering though. Makes the machine so much more capable.

Just had an email from banggood confirming my order for the collet chuck has been despatched - that's faster sending than the collets from Hertfordshire which have also been paid for.

They won't arrive more quickly though, but time zones will play their part I suppose....

Forgot to mention the 2nd email from them - I been accorded 'VIP2 status' which qualifies me for discounts of 8% ^ 10%. They are, naturally, time limited and exclude certain product categories but include engineering & 'good' stuff like tools etc but not electric or stuff like tablets, cameras, clothes - which is nice

I did miss that one.
The collets look to be a great price, well done.

If you don't already have a weight, I have a few lying on the shed floor I bought from a chap on Homeworkshop for a project, certainly not because I 'do' weightlifting/bodybuilding. I fear I'm about 40 years too late for that.

If you want one sending down let me check what size you need and I'll measure them to see if have one appropriate for your needs. They're among the small jobs, I know one's 4" OD.

Yours for the post/packing, which shouldn't be more than a few bits of round metal adorned with Betty Windsor's portrait

After that, you're on your own.

Thank you for the offer but I have one in mind, strangle but it came with my band saw I think it had been used by the previous owner to pull the bow down faster!
