then you have to say sorry for having to do this as its health and safety rules we have to have trusted members that are willing to sign off there name for a safe machine for use otherwise we will have to close some use of tools down

no hump or ackward members after this as its down to a safety point of view for everyone

Not beginning.
That's why I have started the idea of making sure member are signed off on the tools and only certain members are allowed to use certain tools or carry out maintenance.

This has and wil members getting the "hump" as they think they know better.l

it's the same at mine, tbh.
there is a policy of "always have a helper whilst using table saw" - an idea I hate as someone pulling on a workpiece as it comes out of the saw is asking for trouble.

on the other hand, I was asked to "help" someone who was going to crosscut some 2x2.

to 4" in length.
on the table saw.
free hand.
using the fence as a length stop.

in this case, my "help" possibly stopped him losing some fingers, and maybe half his face if a piece kicked "up".

suffice to say, he's had some education now.
he took it well, to his credit.

My youngest was at a loose end after baking a cake and practising trombone so I put her to gainful employment sorting out a couple of sacks of metric nuts and bolts I acquired from @ukracer back in 2015 and haven't unpacked yet . She has now volunteered to sort out the imperial bolts I acquired from my dad too, she says it may take her a couple of months ..... I've got a pile of steel drawers for anything above M6 for her to fill, I think she likes using the label maker best.

(where did you get the boxes mate) The rest will be car booted as soon as they reopen but the smaller have become so useful I dont want to sell the rest and find I have kept none for my self.
Anyway I ended up not going out as my wife was ill again today and my some wants some images vectorising.......I hate that job almost as much as sorting bolts..lol

oh P. S there were no nuts mate but the good part is they can be had from screwfix and one size covers all lengths of bolts.

I bought some clip top boxes from Asda last year - £1 for 2.
they are really good quality, and hold what I call a "standard" box of nuts or washers.

I bought £20 worth - I've got all my screws, washers, rivets, bolts, chalk, drill bits, router bits, taps +dies, LEDs, all my other electronics bits, IKEA pencils , and still got about 20 empties.
just need to make a rack - they're on a bookcase at the moment.

they're still available - £1.50 for two.

alternatively, Screwfix does a 50 drawer unit for around £25.

@Burdekin has actually seen me doing this on my own with some long lengths and i made up a piece to do the short 4" cutoffs so i didnt lose fingers when using big table saw

" It was the last statement he also made when we finished the semester, one which I never forgot.

It is a Brother E550W which is a bit of a lump, can do various fonts and has a decent symbol library best of all the NiMh battery lasts ages.

I was told "never put you fingers anywhere you wouldn't put your d..." I thought that was a fair way of putting it! In this time of equal opportunities you can't really use it anymore.

They are Raaco 1200 series, I usually get them from Trade Systems, they cost about 42 quid including VAT, and you can get from one to five or six drawers per row. Not the cheapest but acceptable quality. I have had imitation ones before and they tend to collapse very quickly. Plus I already have 4 in the workshop, these are going next to them. I need to buy some more dividers for the drawers.

For stuff not going to get wet I use a Brother ptouch, it plugs into the PC so easy to edit and lots of paper options, fonts and effects. For stuff that may get wet or needs to be a bit tougher I have a Dymo.

I might have been using the Brother Laminated tapes for plant labels in the greenhouse for the last couple of years, they may have stood up to the water and UV better than I would have expected, who knows.

Raaco are definitely worth paying the bit extra for, I've got some of their organizer boxes which have outlasted many of the cheaper copies.

I bought a Brother ptouch a few years ago, definitely a good investment although the tapes can be a bit dear unless they happen to use the same type at work

That was the start.
The adjustables will be repaired and kept, due to their age.
The drill had a new handle made from a old bolt and a file what some one had managed to snap.
The screwdriver is dead. The handle was saved.

The braddle was cleaned and now back in use.


The leather tool was saved.
Simple because it was to good to bin.

The Jig Saw.
New cable, new plug.

But, to fix the blade retainer needed a bit more brain time.




Here it is removed. The screw RHS is striped so bad t was difficult to remove.



It took a M6 size Allan key in the head, but the thread was not M6.
The screw had striped, but not the thread in the collar. 1/4 imperial was not a match either.

So I opened it up to take M7.

Where did I find a M7 Allan bolt.
Easy Mk2 Astra Clutch plates and the cover is held on my M7.
Simple fix.

I have a p touch but it dont plug into PC sadly.
