That's interesting. Do you know how it initiates the arc without HF or contact with the work? It doesn't look like a blowback torch.

I'm not entirely sure.
All the spec mentions is it's a Non-HF pilot arc, and the machine torch uses the same working bits as the hand torch, as there are videos of people transplanting the bits from a hand torch into just the machine torch housing.
