All plastic, hollow handle and only weighs 106g including 36g of metal shot.

Can't find any information about it online, anyone seen one before?

I don't know if you will have much luck welding rusted tin foil thin backing plates!

I had same issue on a Merc S class. Pattern parts were available for once so I cut in half and welded in place. Job done, new plate in there and no need to remove/ renew rear wheel bearings etc as is normally the case if fitting complete VS cutting and welding on

You need more practice at welding rubbish.

Was able to build it up and at least the short drive from the workshop back to the garage hole didn't make any horrible noises.

Oh I could have bodged it for sure and got weld to stick. But since it was my car I wanted to do the job right whilst saving some time replacing the wheel bearings etc.

Hey if it works for you go for it To say its better for smarter repair would be wrong.

Oh I'd rather replace it but it's a faff, plus not sure we're going to keep this. It's only back on the road because the 110 started making bad noises. A case of trying to get it back on the road ASAP and I'll try and sort out a proper replacement in due coarse with a bit more time.

I found this hammer on their website that says "Thorlite" on the head, but it's listed as "out of stock" and discontinued: https://www.thorhammer.com/product/09-j612/

You could probably send your hammer photo to them for a positive ID and history. They might also have replacement faces for older hammers.

I've got a few dead-blow and plastic/rubber-tipped hammers, and find them really useful for tasks like repositioning things or tapping shafts into place without causing any damage.

As expected the handbrake shoe retaining pins had pulled through the backing plate and things fell to pieces.

Stupid hateful design. To replace the backing plate (at £144+VAT per side) you have to strip down the hub which is a variety of special tools and hydraulic presses.

I think some washers and the welder are coming out... Sod pulling the hub apart.

Same stupid idea as on my mgzt, same solution too. I was travelling home from North Wales when I heard the noise, I was more than a bit concerned a wheel would lock up...

Today, my first Temu purchase arrived...

Mud flaps for my new car (VW Golf) and some whippet / greyhound tea towels. And, not that I can remember buying, a similarly themed doormat...

Additionally, I treated myself to some really, really nice wee 'once in a lifetime purchase' binoculars; Leica Trinovid 8 x 20 BCA. I can't believe how small they are - yet so clear.

We walked the dogs on a local beach on Saturday and there were seals in the water and, once again, I thought if only I had binoculars... did plenty of research and it happened that a local country and gun store has the best prices in the UK, so a few days I popped over after work and got to test three - these were the winners.

Santa came early. Some freebies from a friend in Scotland. MT3 live centre for the M300 and a boring bar, needs a bit of fettling to fit in the tool holders, or a bigger tool holder (the post looks big enough).

And the best gift

A brand spanking new 3M air fed grinding mask . Even the version with the shoulder hood / flaps. Certainly made working on the 6x6 chassis in a closed workshop much more pleasant.

@8ob I think there's a competition forming between Surrey and Scotland . Although I have said he can have the donkey saw because with the big bandsaw I don't really have a need for it nor neighbours to worry about noise.

I have something similar that came from Lidl but to be honest I just hold the vacuum nozzle below where I'm drilling and it's just as good plus I can see the pencil mark where to drill.
