@ArAKern is that dg? Don’t worry, it’s not terminal. You’ve just given yourself a lot of clean-up work . A mate of mine showed me a good trick for sanding out runs: cover the run with thick black marker and 400grit until the marker has completely gone (after the paint has cured a good bit). Then go up 600, 800, 1200, 2000 & buff

You can speed up the process with a ‘run razor’, shaving the run to almost flush speeds up the drying process as there’s less volume of paint and it’s thinner for the solvents to escape. Once goodly hard there’s less to sand off. I was skeptical until I got one.

If you lay a piece of masking tape on the run while still wet, sticky side down you can pull off a fair bit of a run like that. If it’s a really big run you can do it two or three times.

@Myles1970 Yes it is D2G There are a few drips else where but not in a prominent place.

The lower colour will probably be clear over base, one option I was told was to just flat it back and clear over the whole lot rather fix the runs.

Flat it back and mop and polish. Easy fix, youll have to flat and polish the entire thing for a good finish anyway.

and the rims for the same mini. I've painted solid colours for years, but my first ever attempt at base/clear (outwith a rattle can job). Sprayed at 10 dec C and turned out better than expected. Never again will i prep and paint alloy wheels. Only done these by spraying to ensure the centre caps match - no powder coating on plastic caps.

Ignoring the 2 days of prep and paint, cost me £70 - powder coating would have been £200+ and still have mismatched centre caps. £200 well spent!

Well that went better than expected
Tried wet on wet epoxy primer followed by polyurethane topcoat. Temp in the tunnel was only 8 degC even with the infrared's could only get the bigger panels to 13 degC. (heated the paint tip from "The Gunman" ) and went at it.

2 coats epoxy.

2 coats poly.
Not perfect by a long shot but well protected and the parts are underneath the van or in the engine bay so never to be seen.

I seriously need to work on my sanding and filling skills, even using guide coat still missed some pin holes.

A bit different for me, but today I painted some bits for a model tower crane I'm fixing.
These are bits of ballast and sleepers that were missing that I needed to remake.

All just brush painted.
I bought some artist's oil paints in Lidl because I thought I could get a colour close enough but the useless stuff doesn't dry.
So instead, a quick blast and a coat of epoxy primer.

Then mixed some white, gray and black two pack to get (roughly) the colours I needed.

Started with the off white, then light gray and finished off with the dark gray.

Finished them off on the top of the stove to cure.

I added some texture additive to the light gray to try and replicate the grain on the sleepers.

Quite pleased how they turned out.

Sill some work to do but almost there.
