Built up material on the yesterday demolition thing pin

It had 0.9mm below 0 in some spots
Plus the bushes had worn out as well up to 0.8mm out of tolerance.
So about 2mm of play between parts
Problem is that they need the thing quick, not 90mm induction hardened bar .
So I've had build up material on the middle of the pin so they can use the thing till OEM replacement parts will arrive.
In reality since it's case hardened plus it has been welded it will most likely snap at the first use.
Useless waste of time and 309 electrodes.

Not made, but modified. My drumming tutor had an old Premier bass drum from the 70s that he wanted shortening by just over 4 inches.

First step was to remove all the hardware before moving to the table saw. Set the fence to 4 1/4" so It just removed the holes where the lugs that hold the head on were.

To stop the drum sagging and clamping the blade as I rotated the drum I used a few braces.

Then I had to remove the inner hoop from the bit I cut off, this was done by setting blade depth to just underneath the depth of the outer shell, move the fence the depth over the blade kerf and repeat.

I planed and sanded the last bits of shell from the hoop, then reinstalled it in the shortened drum.

Once the glue is cured, probably tomorrow as its soon to be beer O'clock, I'll route a new outer bearing edge on the drum, this is where the drum skin sits, drill a few holes so I can put the lugs back on, reassemble, tune it and it's done. This is a common conversion, makes it easier to transport and you get a punchier sound.

Yesterday, a rather nice little adaptor bracket to fit an LCD voltmeter to the handlebar of a BSA C.15T -ish thing that lives down in Sarf London.
Thinking about it, it might be worth casting some up, as those voltmeters are proper handy for keeping an eye on battery condition and charging output.
I'm sure that I can make something with a suitably patinated individual finish......

I picked up some heavy scrap bar for free a while back. Today I finally tuned it into something useful.

That's lovely. I can only guess what it is, and even if I did know, I wouldn't have a clue how to use it, but I still like it.
