Got a mate in to tile our ensuite with some tidy small green rectangular tiles, herringbone styley. Did a lovely job cussed all the way with the number of cuts including the in built shelving. Still fires a few Fs into me now about it!

We had our driveway paved a couple of days ago. I made the layout (see below), and a paving contractor did the grading and laid the asphalt.
The pavement consists of 3 inches of coarse-graded asphalt (60 cubic yards of it) laid over an 18-inch base, which is made up of layers of progressively smaller crushed stone with fines (no clay). The contactor compacted the living daylights out of the base material and compacted the asphalt just as diligently, so it should last for a long time. The final grading was a bit tricky due to the convolutions in the lot and getting all parts of the driveway to drain correctly.
After the asphalt has cured long enough, I'll order a dump truck load of good topsoil for dressing and seeding the area around the edges.

I made a rootfukker, out of a 6mm leaf spring from @hotponyshoes
Its not ground sharpsharp, but works well enough with an 8kg sledge.

It's not likely to win any prizes from the WI. But, as unsurprisingly I'm not in the WI, and I'm not intending to share it with them anyway, that suits me fine.

Another day on the roof - I don't know where the time goes, cos I feel progress is glacial.
I managed to replace the rotten wallplate today and also the rafters on the outside of the roof.
I've got the weatherboard bits to fit & one more rafter to replace - but first I need to install a new purlin section under the hip roof for this rafter to site on..... but that's I think pretty much it for the Framing.
This is all pretty much new to me, so after I get the membrane tacked on - I've got to work out the batten layout and slate a roof for the first time.

Made a replacement for this, today.
It's part of the carriage advance mechanism. That plate isn't the original, & I've tried fettling it, but just wasn't happy with it. So, made a new plate & pivot pin/shaft. It's no work of art, but it looks slightly more original, & the new shaft is a better fit in the casting.
Made the shaft a press fit into the plate, so that it only needs nuts fitting on one end now.
You can see in this photo how the previous one looked when fitted, (in an upside-down orientation to how it ought be), & what its purpose is.

I have the same edition. Send it back for a refund as it doesn’t work. I’ve been trying to find my way out of Cornwall for the past 60 years

I have to admit to not knowing how I used to survive without gos. Used to land in foreign lands for work, pick the rental car up and then find the site or hotel. Arrive in Dallas, be handed a map of Texas on an A4 bit of paper at the rental desk . . Got close, needed the boss out in the street waving his arms around to find the right place
