I dealt with a small first world problem today.

My shed (some of you have seen it!) takes a bit of locking/unlocking and I'm tired of getting wet whilst doing so.

So, I made a little canopy

3 x 1m lengths of 3 ply polycarbonate, 4m of 25 x 25 aluminium angle, and half a roll of that sticky backed metal foil tape and the jobs a good 'un!

Now I need it to rain (doubt I'll have to wait long!) and blow a bit to see how well it does what I want it to.

Have you got a couple of bits of steel strip. It'll only take 5 minutes.

Altered a castor off an office chair to replace a broken one on a folding bed.
Turned down the shank and threaded m8. Made the little spanner too. Had to be thin for access.

Tiny axe head bent up from a piece of 16swg steel handle from pallet wood.

(Rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard & European spruce soundboard. The body finish is French polished shellac, the neck is Tru OIl. Made to the 'OM' plans from here.)

Daft question but how do you bend the wood?

Always fancied playing the guitar. Be even more incentive to learn if I made it too.

Heat, mostly, and a damp cloth:

Hey! Welding content: Some aluminium tube squashed to give it a tighter curve, some brackets welded on, and the end capped off (but any old bit of tube would have worked, just I didn't have anything suitable):



Blowlamp up its backside:



Get it good and hot, then just coax the wood around it (two hands needed, but one was holding the camera here). Damp cloth to provide a little steam and (hopefully) prevent scorching.

Fantastic work.

I made one at a class, so know the amount of work that goes into making an acoustic, however I didn't have to make all the tooling or go into half the detail you did (I never knew solid linings were a thing) and your inlay work is amazing.

By coincidence, the one I made was an Gibson L-00 copy like the first plan you linked to.

I'm off to properly read your build thread.

Today I made.... Holes! In the side of my campervan conversion.
There's something very "wrong" about cutting holes in perfectly sound panels!
But, my vintage 3-way fridge needs ventilation & an exhaust- so it had to be done.
I'd already built a new kitchen unit to align with the van inner framework, and insulated with PIR sides and top to segregate the ventilated area behind the fridge from the living space - so I made a few neasurements, slapped on some blue madling tape and had at it with a drill & a mini grinder.
The exposed cuts were painted with Bilt Hamber Electrox before the vents & exhaust were fitted.
Quite a faff to get the fridge electrics, exhaust connection, gas, and the gas connection for the grill and hob all hooked-up & tidied up - but it's all in (including lagging and segregating the hot & cold water pipes that run behind the grill pan & through the space behind & above the back of the fridge).
Still much to do, but I'm happy to get that part of the task out of the way.
(I'm on a budget, and had the fridge and sink/drainer/hob/grill which I've shortened to suit - but I actually like these old fridges - they are robust, quieter, very efficient and frugal to run compared to the pricey 12v compressor fridges that are in vogue - so I'd have fitted one anyway)
