Well, I didn't actually "make" anything, but helped a pal out. I have access to and free rein in a big workshop, Folder, Rolls, Workbenches, grinder drill press and above all: Free electric. Can't be beaten. So once in a while I see my pal has a big job on that he struggles with and this morning I went over early as there were four big sheets of 3mm Stainless needed bending and he could really use a hand.
Bloody Nora, big sheets and big bends, didn't start snapping pics as we were busy but two of them were a bend at 750mm then stand the sheet up to get it out of the brake. Big sheets of 3mm Stainless are heavy, they are also eye watering expensive nowadays £295 a sheet and that is 304, not 316. I snaffled a few small offcuts too so not all bad:
That is a ten foot press so you can see the size of the sheet.

They started off that size but we cut them down, 2.85m x 1.4m Not that you would notice, broke a sweat I can tell you. One other thing, I bought some quite thin supposed "cut resistant" gloves a while back and they were a godsend, going to get my pal a pair. Very sharp those cut edges were.
I have to ask why? Material that thin you could persuade over, simply clamped in the vice?

Finally made a saddle bracket for my telescope, to replace the broken one. Used my cheap multi cutter end mill thingy to square up the aluminium, then cut, drilled, and tapped the necessary after removing lots of metal. Was impressed how well the multi head cutter took off metal, and that all the holes lined up. All done on my little Warko mill.
Made a cod at the last cut, by inadvertently using a blunt end mill, which sort of ‘smeared’ the metal, rather than cut it. Nothing that can’t be sorted with a bit of filing when I’m doing the last bit of finishing before painting.
My plan is to eventually dismantle the whole thing, as the unit got a bit rusty after being stored in a leaky hut, but a few hours on it yesterday has beaten the red death back enough to make everything useable. I’ve mounted the telescope in the stand, and everything feels secure.

You're right, but I've had a hard time getting the lines perfect when I'm trying to make repair parts that need to line up perfectly but the real benefit was fro. The round nose dies that allowed me to form with a radius in the edge. This was just one die.

My brother asked me to make a new filler cap for the expansion bottle on his Jeep Cherokee. The old one has gone hard and split when he went to check the coolant. I had some delrin blanks so I knocked one up on the lathe and mill. Has a 6tpi thread but it's a thin round-topped profile on the bottle. I had to grind a rounded tool and take my best guess on the depth and profile. Ended up a nice snug fit.

A guitar stand. Only about the 4th thing I've fabbed. Don't look too closely at the welds: they will get better with practice and it's all well stuck. Clamping things at odd angles was a challenge and it's not exactly precision work but it does what it is supposed to.

Got some ER40 collets earlier in the week.
Today the collet blocks arrived.
So I thought it rude not to test them out.
First the slot with it stood on end.
I had to rewrite the code and also had to use a smaller cutter for the next index. Previously for the arc I had used a 20mm dia carbide cutter which left 0.1mm clearance to the chuck jaws on the Hartford indexer. The ER collets however are clamped 0.4mm below the nut surface so that was now -.03mm Used a 14mm cutter instead and all was fine.
Today the collet blocks arrived.
So I thought it rude not to test them out.
