I do love a bit of gratuitous knurled brass. Completely unnecessary for the application, but what the heck. 31 mm diameter (before knurling), reducing to 20 mm with an M5 blind tapped hole.

I've just noticed from the photo that the top chamfered edge is a bit shabby. I'll touch that up tomorrow.

I have noticed that stuff I have turned on the lathe looks much less nice in photos than it does in real life.

Lordy me .. another miracle ....that brass has turned into aluminium

Been fitting a chuck to a backplate, this came with some other tooling.
slightly hampered as the fitting is breaking into the register on the back of the plate, but once recessed it works fine.

I still can't stand machining cast iron on the lathe..what a bloody mess

I don't think it's seen much action. As the grease had hardend out, it needing stripping for a full clean. Its certainly trickier than some to strip !
very happy to get about 0.001 run out, using the body as a reference as it's for soft jaws

The great thing about these chucks is although nice an old the soft jaws are readily available around £30 a set

I will have to check out the dimensions of these jaws. I have a tudor chuck at the workshop that could do with some soft jaws for use on the Chiron

I’ve got a freestanding squat rack that takes up far too much space so to save some room I decided to split it in two so that the front half could be bolted directly to the garage floor / wall. With that I needed to make up a few brackets which turned out ok. TIG work is coming along if a a little shaky.

Today I've put together the jonsered , adjusted the carb and it runs quite well .
I like to adjust my 2 strokes little bit rich so they won't rev up too much .
But since I've modified the muffler it runs fast like if stock even if I've adjusted the carb to give more fuel than normal .
It sounds good tomorrow I'll cut firewood after work
I think that I'll probably modify the bar oiler ,so make the hole bigger for a better lubrication other than that it's fine.
In a next future I'll buy a better bar and chain , maybe an Husqvarna bar and a Stihl chain .

You really can't beat an Oregon bar and chain.

Motor mount fitted. Used die grinder so looks ugly.

Im not sure which cockup is to blame but the bearings/shaft it runs slightly hot.

Finished off a load more radiused knuckles for another job today.
4 sets of semi circles, about 12metres worth in total. Arm aches

Still got a massive lack of focus so I spent all day in the kitchen. Had a pot of cream about to go off, so raspberry ripple ice cream;

Two friends have birthdays this week so they both get cakes, one carrot, one chocolate;

That was my first go at the chocolate curls, definitely room for improvement but I'm really pleased with them, I might buy some white chocolate in the morning and make more.

And finally, falafel (Including homemade chilli jam and tzatziki, and the biggest wraps I've ever seen).

No it isn't How much adjustment did you build into them?

There’s about 50mm of adjustment, they where designed mainly to be used either side of the milling vice, witch is why they are the size they are and I tried to keep as much adjustment as possible.

With a 15% discount available and them already on special at set at £23.37 seemed to good to turn down !! ..so much for new year

That just reminded me to rake out the chuck, seems I already have soft jaws for it
I remember now buying them on eBay years ago and misplaced a jaw then found it years later and then never used it, you can see which one I lost as it is still clean

The jaws are TEC ones.

Edit, had a closer look and the ones I should have got were the same as yours. I now remember I bought the soft jaws for a CNC power chuck I had which was 10". They do fit this with a slight modification to the width so no probs
