Hi everyone so
Today I've had to buy firewood with my father.
So tipped the rear seats put a blanket to save my car's interiors
Loaded and unloaded .
Eat fish for lunch .
Got hired for a job I'll be working tomorrow.
And once my nephew wake up I've been working on my chainsaw .
Nothing special just an homeowner grade jonsered .
Which seems to have been made by Husqvarna from what I've understood reading a Facebook group (Stihl users group)
No matter who made it TBH , just curious to know if it's really made by Husqvarna or not .
Can someone please tell me if it's true or not ?, first time I'm having to do with jonsered product,I just know that it's a good brand from users ratings.
So essentially I've saved this saw from the trash bin while working on a jobsite.
Previous owner gave it to me when I've had to repair other things for him .
I've managed to make it run a while ago , replacing the diaphragms on the carb .
But discovered soon where was the problem.
It didn't have power and the engine was inconsistent and it did rev up way too fast
Removed the clutch cover and discovered that the entire power output components were missing ,so no clutch ,no sprocket , and no clutch bell.
Thanks to @MCKDAVID who commented a thread about chainsaws I've posted...
He offered to help me ,he sent me the missing parts with no charges for them.

So back to the saw , after little bit of adjustments to fit the clutch properly I've managed to make the chainsaw work again.
Very happy .
Then I've removed the muffler to check the exhaust port and discovered that I was working on an half modded saw .
So I've completed the muffler mod .
Nothing special they forgot to make the final exhaust outlet bigger.
So measured the exhaust port, two calculations , and made the muffler outlet roughly 60% of the port dimensions .
Now it runs really well with a good sound .
Tomorrow I'll test it to make the final adjustments on the carb
But I'll have to do the job previous mentioned before to play

Can't coment on if they are made by Husky or not, but they really are an excellent saw, I've got one I was given as it needed some repairs and it's a pleasure to use. 16inch bar on it and I often go to it over my Stihl for doing firewood etc.

Get a soft wash biocide on it

Was gonna use hypochlorite.

Can't coment on if they are made by Husky or not, but they really are an excellent saw, I've got one I was given as it needed some repairs and it's a pleasure to use. 16inch bar on it and I often go to it over my Stihl for doing firewood etc.

I'm using a 16" bar too .
Don't really need a longer one ,I'll use it once in awhile to help friends and neighbours with firewood
I'm still intended to buy a Stihl clone or save one .
I'll probably make my other saw run ,I have a McCulloch PM 484 with manual oil pump .
It needs a carb rebuild .
It's been a pleasure to work on this little jonsered .
I'll try to find others and save them

mate done our roof with the biocide. The roof continues to get cleaner and cleaner. However the moss was stopping some leaks

I've just tried to replicate this on the side a a 5L paint thinners can with an airbrush and its easy enough to do

Silicone Bronze build up

What grade?. Just recently started to use 968, I find it softer than SIF No8

Used a bit of .8mm 968, flows very well as you say far better than No8. I repaired a casing on the trucks Munice gearbox with No8. Hard as nails to machine.

I've seen that many of those have a plate which says
Huskvarna Sweden (exactly those words)

Made a clean bench top after producing 3 x 2x 8 " tall heater wax candles for the glasshouse , put the remainder of the initial 25 kg sack of various colours & scented scrap wax through the melting pan and a cast nearly three dozen muffin tin sized cakes of cleaned & treated wax for easy storage. Also made six 100 mm long 5 mm wax sprues for when I get casting brass .

Made a dent in the bank balance ordering amongst other things 25 kg of fire cement powder to make my own crucibles to fit in my little devil gas forge .. the Chinese graphite one I ordered is 8 mm too tall . Might be able to finally fill the last two inches of & the lid of the gas cylinder furnace too .

This evening I made one end of a short offcut of drain pipe (thanks @Bobtail4x4) slightly smaller...

One end was the perfect size (it's going into a 68 mm right angle drain bend), the other was just too big, so I had to skim a bit off. That was a fun exercise in work holding in the lathe...

I did that earlier on today with a five inch long lump of 110 mm soil pipe ( unused ) I wound out the three jaw 5 inch chuck and got a good fit on the jaws then took the parting tool to it . . Almost got it faced when number three jaw came adrift and went & hid in the scrap metal box under the lathe .

Once reassembled I actually slid the tube over the chuck this time used my odd leg callipers to get it nearly set up , and opened the jaws to lock it in place & turned a perfect square face ., whipped it off turned it round then did a repeat . On checking it with a digital calliper it's 9 thou out of parallel on the turned faces . Good enough for what I want .... this time round .

I made my dehumidifier happy today, 6 new PCB touch buttons so I can refit the control panel that has been hanging out for 4 years and gave it a clean inside too. This was full of plaster when I was asked to find out why it wasn't working and the guy bought a proper industrial one telling me to skip it. That was several years ago.

Filter needs a clean! The ice tells me two things don't runn it flat out and there is gas in it. New foam on order, switches fitted and a thorough clean inside at a total cost of £12.10 including a spare filter foam. Years of service an that's all I have spent on it other than time and electricity. Purring nicely now.

I left my £ 138 dehumidifier on over the last winter in the caravan when temps dropped to minus 11oC ...big mistake ..... The ice block that formed bust the copper pipes somewhere so the refrigerant escaped . Found the operating instruction for it a few weeks ago .. " do not use in freezing conditions or below 5 oC .

I had it running on the bench with the covers off and frost started to build up quite quickly and disappeared almost as fast turning to condensation once the compressor shut down. As it was a freebie I was never really fussed about if it packed up but I am impressed with the abuse it has taken and still keeps going so I will try and give it an easier life. In previous years I have left the small internal heater it has switched on during cold nights and that seems to keep the cold edge off and nothing was damp in the workshop plus the air did not feel damp.

Good evening to everyone
So this morning I've tried to fine tune the carb on the jonsered ,but found an air leak
The entire chainsaw is actually disassembled.
Tomorrow I'll solve the issue because today I've had to do.
So this evening I've removed a pump and a 80 litres pressure bowl
I've had to use a big 2" pipe wrench with 1 meter tube + my 1.7 meters prybar to break the fittings loose .
The bowl has the diaphragm broken so I've practically move 80kg of steel and water alone , and I'm skinny and just 50kg .
I'm pretty tired now I'll try to fix the leak on my saw just because I'm starting to get annoyed .
Ahh another thing , I've discovered a lathe I've just asked the price , it's an used little cheap lathe , hopefully the price isn't to much

Snag with the biocide is the cost! Hypochlorite is cheaper.

Dead centre is in the bore chuck side of the parting so it wont crush. I need a long mt2 dead centre! Tail stock is well past the screw travel.

Tried the iscar parting blade. I have one worn insert, it sharpened ok and cut good. Will use more often.

Notmuch clearance to centre!
A longer bristled shaver cleaning brush would be useful for parting.

Need to make up some m4 transfer screws next and drill lots of vent holes.

Five more kitchen doors which I will fit this evening. I make them in batches of similar sizes.

Stiles and rails sized, grooved for floating panel and domino mortices cut. I had already glued and clamped the panels. Each panel is cut to size and rebated on the back to fit the groove. Although they are similar sizes, they do differ by a couple of mm so each frame is slightly different, saves too much planning later.

Assembly starts, one in clamps.

All glued and ready for final sand. Trial fit and slight planning where necessary.

Two thin coats of clear satin polyx hard wax oil, hinges on and ready to go.

Only one more door to make it's an odd size/shape

So
Today I've put together the jonsered , adjusted the carb and it runs quite well .
I like to adjust my 2 strokes little bit rich so they won't rev up too much .
But since I've modified the muffler it runs fast like if stock even if I've adjusted the carb to give more fuel than normal .
It sounds good tomorrow I'll cut firewood after work
I think that I'll probably modify the bar oiler ,so make the hole bigger for a better lubrication other than that it's fine.
In a next future I'll buy a better bar and chain , maybe an Husqvarna bar and a Stihl chain .

I do love a bit of gratuitous knurled brass. Completely unnecessary for the application, but what the heck. 31 mm diameter (before knurling), reducing to 20 mm with an M5 blind tapped hole.

I've just noticed from the photo that the top chamfered edge is a bit shabby. I'll touch that up tomorrow.
