I find it easier than MIG to keep tidy, and faster too, because there's no rework or flaws
No doubt some can make a beautiful job with MIG, but I just don't have the skill or practice.

Took a break from metalwork to sort out some seats. Shortened, narrowed, inverted and the armrest installed the other way up. Timber frames added to hold the original 1950s Dunlopillow foam in place. Nice to occasionally expand your 'repertoire'. Rejuvenated with a mix of Beeswax, Linseed oil and dark red T-cut polish.

Ran a die down one of the long M6 bolts I acquired today to extend the thread†
Not pretty but it works.
Here it is in place:
† Actually I cheated and put the die in a die stock in a vice and the head of the cap head in the cordless drill chuck and let the drill do the work (in two passes with the split die open then closed). I didn't think it would work, but it did!

Done that trick a few times when restoring tools. Both cutting new threads and cleaning up old ones.
The longest I did. All be it a bit different.
1m x M12 threaded bar. Fixed 2 nuts and locked them up, socket adapter and ran the bar through a die nut. The coating was so uneven it was impossible to hand spin a nut down the bar.

My recent purchase, a cold cut saw (https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/help-identify-a-chop-saw.102579/), needed a material clamp.
I dug through the pile of 'why the hell are you keeping that' or 'I hit my shin on that box or metal crap again' as the misses affectionately calls it. And cobbled together a pretty sturdy clamp.
I think it came out well and stuff definitly doesn't move when you crank the handle.

Due to wood being wood and moving and changing size.
I needed to make a scraper.
I don't need one, I have a few.
But this was fun and I need to keep the sanity.
This is why I made it.
Some wooden pan supports had warped. Opening up some gaps.
The gaps were filled with hard wax. Then the scraper was used to level and back fill the wax.
Plus de nib the blocks where to polish and sealer had attracted dust and 1 fly.
I needed to make a scraper.

Today I drilled some holes in one of my balls
I seem not to have taken any pictures of the sleeve fabrication, but it went in and is welded at one end
It fits nicely. Now I just need to fill it with lead, trim the end and weld a plate over the filling hole.
Then onto the second one.

Not today, but I madd a mount for the replacement X-axis scale for my mill. Not pretty but this scale is so large I don't think there are any such options on the table. I believe it will be temporary, this is only a 2-axis DRO so I believe I will buy a 3-axis setup in the future and move this one to the lathe, it's a good fit for the lathe.
One snag so far, the new scale counts exactly 2X everything. This means the pitch inside the scale is 20um instead of 40um like my earlier scales. Fortunately Heidenhain has superb service and even for this 1970/80s model they were able to find instructions, I need to cut one leg of an IC and solder it to another leg and it will count half on that axis.

what i have been doing
the floor is old 1800 and yes they are 4x3s for that floor beams inbetween beams
it needs an american carpet its that large of a room 17ftx17ft
we dont like kitchen and lounge together so with @Burdekin reference bathroom its now being fitted to the left instead of through the doorway on the right kitchens now going through the doorway and better planned out than before
though we are wondering what this is in the ceiling for
old chimney opened back up with original stones in it
the house next door should be a listed building but it has never been put under one as its an original farm cottage build oldest in the area
the cottage you see is an add on the roofs are broken back roofs and extension add ons to the original build of the cottage

Not really made today as it’s been an ongoing thing, but here is the first fire in my fire pit made from an old expansion vessel. Very pleased with the result, and a thumbs up for Aldi/Lidl high temp paint which seems to have stood up well
