Finished her new spice rack today. Old one doesn't fit in the new kitchen and I got bored of the windowsill being filled with spice jars.

It is rh so I have attached it to the base plate and it pushes the top plate in the correct way.

How are the vertical legs held in the tee slots?

There is a 45 degree ledge on the left leg and a cross piece in the centre section of the right leg.

It’s for feeding the cat. The red thing is a programmable relay that can be set to work on a schedule or on command over wifi.


Edit; you could even do it by voice command if you use one of those things. ‘Alexa, feed the moggy’

I haven't had much time to get in the workshop today. I just thought a picture of the way the slide is captured in the saddle may explain what I am doing?
The lathe will never be accurate as it has been broken and repaired multiple times over it's 100 year life!

You just need to be parallel to the bed
It's a simple lathe I believe .
Still good to make round stuff , there are people which built their own lathes and use them to make their own machines , mechanical stuff like tractors parts etc
You have a starting point ,if you achieve the parallelism wouldn't be too hard to maintain the squareness and eventually an angle on the tool post.

They are used in an organ at a local cathedral to regulate the humidy. I take it water is somehow dripped onto the stones.

Turned into a nightmare as I had 3 orders for the mesh not turn up and then a month later turn up.

Machining a piece of aluminum, it will be an adapter for mounting the reader head of a DRO scale to my mill.

Able to take a pretty heavy cut in aluminium

I didn't manage to get any where near the workshop yesterday but have now welded up all the sheet metal.





I just need to weld a couple of nuts inside to mount the grinder to, fit the top plate and then mount the quench tank.



A lick of paint later in the week then smack a few holes in the floor to nail it down!
