haha I suppose it does look a bit dangerous. A conditioner on a mower is basically a coarse flail that bruises the grass against an upper hood, after the discs have already cut it. It helps the grass to wilt, making better quality hay and silage.

We bought the mower cheap at auction last year, the previous owner had ran the conditioner to almost destruction, so we took it off and ran it as a plain mower. Just getting around to fixing it properly before this years silage season. I've still got to make a hood for it as well.

i made my vice into one piece again..
please don't laugh at my poor attempts at tig welding..... :ashamed:

another thing on my list of cant afford to replace at the moment is my machine vice on my pillar drill.
this was given to me for xmas last year and whilst grateful, is not of the quality i would have chosen myself.

used it a fair amount over the past few months but broke it last week..

so being cast it is tricky, and i don't have much in the way of preheating equipment, so i'm sure it will crack, but its worth a shot.

a bit of amateurish tigging.

yes, i see the porosity too.... cast is hard!

and covered.

we'll see....

A good way to improve the mechanical strength of that repair would be to drill and bolt the ends as well.. give it a fighting chance

I'd drill in 6.5mm, tap to M8 and drill clearance through the broken part, and bolt it up.

got the rest of the job done yesterday, going to have to have a look at the vice on the donkey saw as the first cut was squint, job moved in the vice. but all done and drilled and ready for use if we are ever aloud out to play again..
spoke to a nice chap on ebay who had the correct compound slide for my lathe convinced him to sell me it for the princley sum of £60, should make the lathe more usable as it will take normal sized tools once repaired.

Today I wanted to make a pair of these for my Weber BBQ...........

Then I saw this one on YouTube...........

So a rummage around the offcuts pile, a bit of a think and a good coat of looking at I squeezed a 7" wide sheet of 2.5mm steel through this 300mm slip roll..........

To end up with this after cutting the sides of with the plasma hacksaw..........

A bit of trimming and a couple of bits of mesh just the water trough to add then a test with beer can chicken Friday if the weather is good. Just the stainless beer can with a wider base to make before then though.

It's to give indirect heat circulating around with the lid on and a controlled burn by starting the coal off in one corner and regulating the air. Sounds like I know what I'm talking about but the video made sense!

I’ve spent most of my time recently on workshop beautification but I got a bit done on my GN125 project today.
My new airbox is about the same size as the original but centred in the frame with the filter in the back instead of the side.
