A router table... sort of! After fannying about trying to cobble together a large flat plate with the baby Trend T4 router hung underneath I banged by knee against the welding table I have from 7050ps; inverted the clamps that drop through its slots and the router sat nicely underneath - worked a treat to round the edges on the woodwork for current project.

Today I made an adapter for a job at work. We have a huge amount of welding to be done on the existing structure of a large building we're modifying but all of the existing steel work is covered in intumescent paint for fire protection. We tried a wire wheel on a grinder but it just smears the paint. We had a lot more success with a small sds hammer drill in hammer function only using a wide chisel but it's end-of-the-world noisy and also has HAV issues, very hard on the hands. Can't use a grinding disc as it polishes the steel so the new fire protection won't stick well enough.

So I stripped the blade holder off a recip saw and made this adapter for clamping a scraper blade which I also made. The blade has a piece of old carbide milling cutter tip on the end.

I tried it out on the paint on my bench legs and it's wicked fast at removing it. Should make the guys very happy at work. Might be a bit long in the stroke at 28mm but the stroke isn't so easy to change so I'm going to see how they get on with it and if it's un-manageable I'll have to come up with something to shorten it up.

LOL - I'd forgotten about that! I had my original one at work several years ago as we didn't have a working router at school at the time but it got nicked in a break-in over a weekend; it got replaced (wouldn't these days as there's not ANY money in education) and as the replacement arrived at school one of the technicians had PAT tested it and slapped a sticker on it before I knew it had arrived! :laughing:

So today or better yesterday (it's already Sunday here in Italy)
I managed to break the knife handle .
Tried to save it til I've decided to destroy it and make a new one
Later in the morning I'll upload pictures about
So ten minutes ago or so I've kicked out a kidney stone without problems or particular pain
It's around 4 or 5 mm in diameter but later it will appear smaller (liquid loss ,it will shrink)
Now is with his friend I've kicked out a month ago , them are closely close now
Later I'll continue the knife project and I will upload pictures

Yesterday was a quiet day, both locally and in the play pen.

No Video link for the MIS, but I was fielding phone calls from the office. So, again, I opted for a "No power tool day."

Got theses two paraffin Blow torches.

Both worked, the bigger one was cooler than the smaller one.
The smaller one ran very hot.

De-greasing.
This was normal washing powder, warm water, atop of a paraffin stove.
You want it hot enough to gently remove the crud, but cold enough to keep your hand in the fluid.

The sawdust you can see. I use it as a scrub to work into the oily based grime. Then it gets used as a fire starter.

Wrapped in cling film and a flour based cleaner.

The cleaner is:
Flour.
Salt.
Vinegar.

Mix equal amount of salt and vinegar, you want the salt to be completely dissolved. So adjust the salt to vinegar ratio.
Then mix in the flour until you have a even mix, think double cream thickness.
Apply and seal with clean film and wait.

This is the results
Most of the dirt has gone.
Don't leave the mix on too long.
You end up with a copper look.
It can buff out, buts more work.

The remains of the mix, add water and paint onto dandy lion weeds.
Kills them in a few days.

Polished up, with Brasso. I did not go for the fully polished look. I wanted to keep the aged look.
Plus, these will be used. Not shown off.

In Flame.
LHS you can see the dull red glow on it already. The Meths has not fully brunt off.

RHS, still warming up, but the shroud is a very dull red.

This was a nice sight. A lovely green burn.
Shame it didn't last.

Another reason I didn't want to overly clean them up.
This label was not visible until I washed it.

The Bigger one has Etched on to it.
WD RAF Stores Wiltshire.
But I can't get a good image of it.

Why? The leaves are nice in salad, the flowers are good for bees, and you can use the root for a host of beneficial things.

I have enough bee friendly plants here, I have few Fuzzy Buzzy making home in the garden.

You wouldn't want to eat those dandy lions.
They are on the route of dogs.
