Turned the original forward controls into dual. Much better option for a trike as getting caught in a tightening corner whilst not leaning into it is bad news.
The original forwards used 6mm stainless bolts in single shear - even for the brakes...

Today I won (hopefully) a very small battle in the never-ending war against swarf.
I've already got some bits of aluminium screwed to the table of the milling machine to keep swarf out of the t-slots, but the milling vice had got quite clogged up with swarf as there are lots of crooks and nannies where it can get into. When I dismantled it yesterday it had got into the female thread of the vice screw and had to be scraped out to get the vice moving properly. This is the problem area - the gap between the "ways":
So I made this:
It's just a piece of acetal that's been fly-cut to size and has two countersunk holes in the middle. The drill and tap you can see are sitting in little extension pieces as they weren't long enough for the next job (I was too lazy to completely dismantle the vice again): drilling and tapping two holes thus.
The result:
It moves with the moving jaw and covers the whole gap (about 0.75 mm below the surface of the ways so it doesn't interfere with parallels). It's long enough to cover the gap until the jaws are about 100 mm apart.
Hopefully it will help!
Also made some new screws for the bench vice I got out of a skip:

I tried a new to me method of "Blackening."
Smiths Carb Spanner was chosen for this.
Cleaned up, washed with "Meths." and a alkaline degreaser. Something they fail to mention on YouTube or from the supplier. When asked if I need anything else.
First coat.
Did not impress me.
Final coat.
Still not impressed.
Could be the steel, could be my method.
I will try another project in a few days.
