Locking pin for the new gates, didn't want a throw over and the original pin was too short and didn't have the throw as its not design for this purpose, close your eyes now if shoddy engineering makes you wince
Bit of tube chain drilled and slotted

A bit of nylon made up as a slidy stop type thing

Which then goes like this to make the pin captive and give me the throw

A bit of etch and a final paint tomorrow

I've seen @Seadog's welding. After that experience, I can tolerate anything.

I did think about it but there isn't the space and rattling open should be a problem as there is a lot of penitration in theory the animals shouldn't get that far
It more to stop the dogs charging off unaccompanied

Few days ago, didnt get a before pic. Their usual climber was injured from falling off ladder/hedge onto a metal spike. Interesting job as it had a proper hazard beam crack on the furthest spreading stem and had to get some significant weight off before I was happy tying in to it.

The G372XP got its first proper run since I fit the Meteor cyl piston kit. Running well but needs idle adjusting up slightly.

No damage but it was a big cut with stiches. Another week and he will be back to climbing.

Casing and threaded collar made.

Boring the rotating tool holder to 8mm.


Slotting the body head for adjustment


8mm key left on the main body and 1' angle machined for the tool bit.

Grinding 6mm hex broach out of an old HSS tap. Does anyone know if the cutting end should be concave? At present I have left it flat.


Experimenting with broaching.


Aluminium, relatively easy compared to steel.

Steel, needs a flange to stop it slipping in the chuck with the amount of pressure applied.
Next up stainless steel...

There wasn't a concave end on the ones I bought from China and they worked well but I have seen ones online that do.

Not quite at 2' yet I don't think. It's only ducted electrics going in this trench. It'll T into a 750mm deep trench that'll have mains water and soil pipes.

A trolley for the toolboxes, there's 35 kilos in each of them and my back isn't up to heaving them about working on the cars any more.

It started with a link to some solid rubber wheels I saw on here (thanks @8ob ). Wheels were duly ordered and have been sat in the corner of the shed for 18 months, it doesn't do to rush these things.

All made from bits of Rapid Racking rescued from a clearout at work, except for the axles which are 20 x 20 box.



The wheel bearings are 16mm ID, I had some round bar about the right size. Turned down to fit the wheel, the other end was a press fit in the box section.
14mm holes at each end so it could be plug welded in.



Drilled and tapped M10.



Test fit. Think it'll do the job. Colour scheme is a bit CBeebies but I expect I'll get used to it.



I'll take the wheels off again and give the bare metal bits a coat of primer, at least, before it gets used in anger.
