A makeshift bead breaker to change the valve on SWMBO's CR-V. I normally break beads in the vice but it doesn't have the throat to get round the tall tyres.

I bought one of the laser 'tyre on' valve changing kits to try tackle this but the cone's only really suited to steel wheels, not alloys where the valve seat's recessed. The unistrut breaker worked a treat though and doing it myself, I got the opportunity to clean up the scabby bits in the valve stem bore. No more weekly air top ups!

This was a fairly quick and simple turning job I did following a request from my other half. It's a darning mushroom, used for holding fabric taut while darning holes.

The wood is sweet chestnut; it was made out of a (cut up) single piece of wood but turned in two halves, with the head being oriented in the way you would turn a bowl and the shaft being turned as a spindle. I'd planned to glue the two halves together, but I managed to turn the spigot on the shaft to be a very good fit in the head (it went in with a bit of hand persuasion most of the way, leaving about a 1 mm gap which was closed up with a light mallet tap). I haven't applied any finish as I didn't want to risk anything transferring to the clothes my other half will use it on and I didn't think it really needed it.

Much better now, thanks for asking. There's still a long road to full recovery but she doesn't need crutches anymore & only uses a walking stick for longer distances (which are still quite short, but far better than they were).

I made a new “hutch” for my rabbit when I took my old bed down for replacement (due to said rabbit chewing bed).

I couldn’t be bothered to take it the dump so I set about it with nothing but a hand saw and a drill and repurposed it without a plan and ended with this

Can’t describe how much I despise wood and woodworking

Not finished and needs a roof but that’s tomorrows job (next year most likely)

I think I used a tape measure once, a square zero times and was disassembling bits of bed for the bit I “needed”.

As a chronic over planner with OCD for “optimal” building as you go with bits of chewed wood with a million holes in it was very very fun, even if it wasn’t metal.

Adirondak chair from sawmill waste. I got a ton but there are some nice planks amongst it too good to burn so i made thiso out of one of them

Friends garden. She helped me get into arb with the removal of 6 trees, a lot of experience gained. She always wanted the garden levelled but I did not know how, anyway first job is the stumps.

Small out with pickaxe, the next is much higher than the garden so needed to be dug around to expose the big roots.

Lots more to do. Two smaller leylandii stumps behind but they only need the surface taken out.

A friend of mine and I just finished installing plywood and eight double-strip LED lights on the ceiling of our new garage. It took 19 sheets of 4' x 8' x 1/2" plywood.

A drywall lift and roll-around scaffold makes installation easier, especially with an 11-foot ceiling, but it's still a fair amount of work.

The black stripes you can see through the plastic are just strips of tape temporarily holding the fiberglass batts in place.

All of the plywood is spaced to match the joists and screwed into the joists, and extra backing blocks were installed to join the sheets between the joists. It should stay flat, and it's not going anywhere.

It's nice and bright inside the garage now, but I might paint the ceiling white later to boost the brightness even more. I plan to eventually insulate and cover the interior walls, but that will have to wait until a few more projects are out of the way.
