Made a little 19mm bore bush from stainless. I have decided it is just easier an cheaper to set up with the through coolant from the start, rather than trying to recover a piece when the drill has snapped half way down a bore:

How DO they get those holes to follow the spiral down the drill? Amazing stuff.

It's not as magical as you might hope. The coolant tubes are already in the blank before it's ground, made with spiral cores in the green form before it's sintered - the cores burn out during sintering and leave the spiral passages, then it's just a case of clocking the blank to grind the bit from.

I was convinced for a long time that they must die sink them with a twirly electrode. It was quite anticlimactic when I found out how it was really done

Not exactly made, but repaired and improved. The rather worn end plate from a Jabsco bilge pump.

A bit of a sketchy set up in the three jaw.

Finished with a HSS tool.

The new impeller came with a O-ring rather than the original's paper gasket.

After working out the ring dimensions it a groove was cut using a piece of HSS that was ground and in one of my drawers.

It fits

The DRO really was useful for this final operation.

I decided to do the wiring in our new garage myself. I obtained an electrical permit from the town office and ordered a pile of supplies. I just finished the rough-in wiring, which the town’s code enforcement officer inspected yesterday. He’ll return for the final inspection after I finish installing all of the devices, which could take a while, since I'm not going to install the LED ceiling strip lights until after I’ve installed the plywood on the ceiling.

Here is the subpanel that I installed in the garage, which is fed from a 100A breaker in the 200A main panel in the house. I installed eight circuits, including one 50A 240V circuit, one 30A 240V circuit, and six 20A 120V circuits. The 240V breakers are GFCI, and the 120V breakers are all combination AFCI/GFCI (I'm not sure, but I think your equivalent would be AFDD-RCBO). I also installed an additional ground (earth) rod for the subpanel. Due to our cold winters (and unheated garage), I installed ‘hydraulic-magnetic’ breakers for all eight circuits, which are said to be more accurate than thermal-magnetic breakers over a wide temperature range. I didn’t opt for ‘smart’ breakers, since I didn’t see much need for them in the garage, and I already have more than enough ‘smart’ appliance apps to deal with on my iPhone.

It's interesting to see other countries wiring standards "in action", it's a very neat job :thumbup:

What's the reason for the 240V breaker on it's own top left when there appears to be space for it top right.

The top right two slots have a plastic post that can be used to secure (for safety reasons) a back-fed breaker in the panel.

I thought I'd reserve that location in case I ever do anything with another power source near the garage, such as solar.

Kubota tractor with a partly disintegrated exhaust manifold to silencer coupling,cast original but customer couldn’t source,fabricated with a ready made 90degree bend,a ready made flange with the correct hole spacings from my packing tray! All it required was opening out to 35 mm,then some stubs of 42 chs,and a length of 41 mm exhaust tube,I even found a gasket that was close enough,requiring a tiny trim. Never before have I had 2 golden finds on one small job.
