Won a long battle.
Had a Ryobi brush cutter in repair for months due to my kidneys, hospital, getting after surgery, return to work, attempting to resurrect my YouTube channel because I've focused myself on my own health only.
Anyway back to the subject I've replaced sparkplug, ignition coil, carburettor, fuel lines .
Despite all that it wouldn't start.
So today I've emptied the tank put fresh gasoline, nothing to do...
Still wasn't going to start disassembled, perfect cylinder wall, no scores on the piston, good piston rings.
But seemed like it was having blow by, I've cleaned up everything, reassembled .
Still not running yet.
I've took the spark plug out, moved the piston to bottom dead center.
Used an heat gun blown hot air through the hole till it wasn't smoking anymore from the muffler.
It was clogged like nothing I've ever worked on.
Started first pull let run without cooling till no visible smoke was coming through the exhaust.
Stop
Put the conveyor on , started, tuned the carb without air filter .
Little bit lean TBH but the air filter will reduce the air coming in and increase little bit the fuel .
Anyway it's running now.
Can't wait to give it back to customer

Clogged exhaust silencers / mufflers is often missed by many so called experts . I often carefully took them off machines and then used the oxyacetylene torch to get them a dark cherry red so it not only burnt out oily deposits it also ignited most of the carbon clogging the drillings in the interlan hard to get at bits. Once nice & hot they self ignited for a few minutes in which I kept tapping them with a bit of old broom stick to knock the difficult bits off the metal and giving them a waft of the torch now and a gain .
I'd then drop the still very hot silencer in cold water to cool it and also give me something with which to swill out th internals at both ends . Then reheat to evaporate any water , when cooled 7 totally dry a quick spray with alu paint .

That's a great tip .
I've honestly didn't think about the muffler till I've removed the cylinder and analysed the internal.
Knowing to have everything else right remained the exhaust.
And being a cat model, knowing that my customer used wrong oil percentage and my tendency to run equipment rich in carb tuning (I've always maintained this brush cutter since he bought brand new in 2017).
Things after entering in my hands usually don't even need choke, because of lots of little adjustments and my personal way to adjust the carb (low rich and high leaner, most of the fuel comes out low jet , but I find the sweet spot to keep it responsive)

Just ended a 1 hour long battle
I was having dinner when un unpleasant guest came to distract me with a one way ticket only.
I'm scared to death of roaches.
Don't ask me why but since I was a little child I've always got fear of them.
I have no problems with mice, at all I kinda enjoy hunting them.
Last night I was awaken by one of those ******** running over me.
It happened to many times this summer.
The little busta found his escape route through kitchen fornitures to little passages for a shoe to go in .
Too dangerous for chemical weapons.
And it was too fast and me not enough ready to react.
When I've found his refugee, an unreachable small little corner, knowing I wouldn't have slept at night with this thing around the kitchen.
I've decided to pick up my 4.5 Slava

Loaded with .75grams pointed pellets

Back to the story .
Moved around finding the better spot as point blank as possible, aimed and take a shot.
Not sure about having hit the target, loaded another one the thing run to escape, shot again and surely hit but the pistol is actually not powerful enough or at least many times it doesn't give enough punch to penetrate .
The thing hide into the pantry.
And now it's war cause I can't stand this thing moving around food.
Loaded another round.
Patiently waiting it for showing up.
It came out shot and took a limb off .
Hide again, another few minutes waiting and came out again shot again one more round seen another limb coming off.
I thought it was dead but it ran under cover again .
Now I'm really stalking it .
Moved around pointed gun and torchlight found it I was ready to press the trigger when it went behind something.
I then decided to suppress the thing, but I've realised it was running on the corner, took the shot and part of its abdomen exploded.
It's done, it attempted to escape shot one last time it's on its back still moving

I hysterically called my mom and she ended it with the mom's universal weapon

It's embarrassing and hard to believe they terrify me at the point I have to shoot them because I'm unable to crash them with a shoe but I hope I made you laugh at least.
Tomorrow morning to the psychiatrist for the PTSD

Today I made (well not today and not made, more modified) a couple of spindle moulder cutters so I could get some mouldings run for a set of reclaimed doors I'm trying to fix up.
The doors need straightened and I need to replace some of the stained glass so it might be worth it's own thread, but this is just one small bit.

The original moulding are a pain to strip (and I don't particularly like them) so I decided to change the moulding to a simpler design used on the reclaimed doors we used elsewhere.

I ordered a couple of blank cutters and made a template of the moulding out of 2mm steel.

Then used that to made a jig to mark the cutters.

I used a 4.5 inch angle grinder to get the rough shape.

Before a final grind on the tool grinder I got from @Seadog .
I had to make a rough and ready plastic spacer to get the angle I wanted and the angle changed as the grinding wheel wore down, but it worked well enough.

I finished them off with sharpening stones and diamond files.

They aren't a perfect match but the deepest cutter will dictate the final shape and they are about as good as I will manage with my tools and skill level.
I took them to a local joiners shop and he ran the mouldings in Tulipwood (Poplar)

He told me I had ground the cutters upside down as they remove more wood from the bottom, so the timber is less well supported by the fence while being run, but I'm very happy with the results.

I could probably have bought an old spindle moulder for the price this cost to run, but I ran out of workshop space a long long time ago.

Rained maybe three days ago and they started to come out everywhere.

Get some super sticky double sided sticky tape of ALIEXPRESS put a few strips of card with it on by the edges of the room , no light on then flick the lights on , the clatter of their shells & legs as they cross the floor to hiding places is amazing and the super stick tape is strong enough to hold any that try to cross it ,

On a military base in Germany in the 70's doing a security /fire patrol I put the lights on at 3 in the morning in the cookhouse, only to see the whole floor covered in a light brown moving carpet which disappeared within a couple of minutes . This was about a week after the pest control guys had sprayed / fumigated the place . Cockroaches are able to live in a radioactive area that would kill a human within a few days & still manage spread all manner of diseases. .

I didn't try uranium yet , but I've understood roaches are pretty tough...
I've put 5 pellets in it and it was still alive , slowed for sure as It was missing 3 legs and half abdomen.
I'm going to try the tape trap, I was reading about sugar and sodium carbonate as safe poisoning agent against insects.
But I'm afraid about my little Prague mouse (most useless hunting dog ever but it's so cute and you can't really love it ) getting poisoned because he eats everything that looks food .
Also soap is a good deterrent but yet again my dog and I'm afraid to open a Pandora's box
