Apparently the term cathead is a reference to all the protruding screwheads and suchlike, if it catches you you look like you have been mauled by a cat? If anyone has any other references I would like to hear them.

I have bought some long Stainless steel screws as I will be boring the ends out and adding some brass buttons on the ends. I went to see my favourite grinding company yesterday but they don't have a fixture to hold the Bolt as you cannot remove the handle, so I will be doing it myself using my own lash up.

Over the last few days I've been knocking this together, working outside when possible in the wind. It'll be a small log splitter for a pal [yes, he does have an axe but like me he's getting on a bit and less able for some things ]. Ignore the short lengths of pipe, they're only for setting sizes and will be replaced with longer once I have the scissors jack I've been promised by a local chap.

The log is approximately the size he'll be working with afaik.

Absolutely, Remington don't have a 6.5 Grendel ergo 6.0mm ARC rifle bolt in this country and getting one from the US is a non starter so I am going to make my own!

Threaded some stainless M20 x 1.5 each end and welded on a couple of washers to make extensions slides for the wee brake, pic shows new with one of the originals.

Once fitted I cut some 10mm steel to make up a table that sits over the brake.

That allows me to slide the tooling to any of the vee's
