Replaced the rotten plank,I’m sure why this one failed after only 14 years,is because I do a skid steer to enter the loft via a very low door,and the swarf on my soles gouges into the wood,opening it up to the weather .its keruing.

Is that the stuff they line wagon trailer decks with? Have you a source of it at sensible money?

Yes,ordered via my jewson account,it came on an International Timber lorry.
@Brad93 ,I was told it has its own natural oils,and the others are all 14 years old.

Check to see if the removed plank was heart wood or off the outer edges of the tree where the grain might be more opened once the wood was seasoned. .

I bought a set of disc harrows last year, on the basis the price was he same as paying the contractor to do the prep work for summer feed. That plan didn't quite work - who would have thought tractor salesmen are related to car salesmen? They were supposed to be running, but having had to reseal the hydraulic cylinder and new hoses and brazing a fitting, I think they may have been economical with the truth...
I should have gone over them in winter, but anyway, finish the first paddock and a bearing collapses. The nut on the end of the shaft that holds the disks in palce came undone, the whole lot shifted sideways, ate the bearing and then started on the cast iron spacer. No bearings available easily so I have had to mail order some for this week,
The bearing hanger had seen better days and some past abuse, being bent 40mm and ripping the welds, so while it was apart, I put them in the forge and gave it a talking to with a 4lb hammer.
It will live again, but the contractor has finished the job again this year.

Simple job for me. The beater brush drive belt snapped in my vacuum. took it apart and the whole of the inside is caked in about 5mm of 'shake n vac' cleaned it off with a screw driver, washed in hot water, dried and reassembled. Works better than before.

Unloaded 8 pallets of roof tiles this morning in 1,5 hours. Enough to get the steam up
All laid out att end of day.
Roof about 50 years old and first one I see without rot so just tiles and sheet metal to replace.

Nope got sidetracked with other jobs today. Still scraping the jig plate. Lot of work to go yet

I've noticed in both Germany and Norway they have built in ladders on their roofs. Do you have that in Sweden? How do they attach? And both countries loved a glazed roof tile.

Yes we have roof ladders and there's different versions of them. Some are loose steps you just hang on the "joists" others just hook over the ridge and some you fasten with screws. Glazed are top notch here too.

Those of a sensitive disposition look away NOW!

We barely have enough metalwork vices in the workshop at school and certainly don't have any BSW machine screws so when a jaw fell out of a Record #2 vice and we couldn't find the screws there was only one solution... it isn't as if we'll ever be replacing the jaws anyway.

Took it home and used some stainless filler to TIG it on for good...

That's unusual ...here in the UK the membrane usually runs along the batons and is over lapped from the bottom up so any water ingress runs off . What's the reason for yours going gutter to apex ?
