Not sure if Ive fixed it, but I got the old printer working. Kind of. no more than 3 pages at a time, and it needs some extortionate cyan toner to stop it complaining, but at least I now have the 8 sheets I needed printed off. Several times..

Sat in Scunthorpe steelworks waiting to unload this:




which is apparently a hydraulic rock breaker , and just had word that the next job is a 15 metre long x 3.7 metre wide lump from Pontefract to Slough. Got the wide load marker lights out to make sure they're all okay to find that nothing works .

An hour stood in the pouring rain later and it turns out that the auxiliary lighting socket on the trailer is wired reverse to the old firms' trailers . Lots of testing and swapping cables around and all is working again . And I've acquired another job for over Christmas checking and cleaning all the connections:

Got this off Ebay.
Bloke said it pops and farts when you put a load on it, I think they all do to a point anyway but I had a fettle as the fast and slow settings didn't seem to work and after an hour of farting about it now seems to have fast and slow speeds that correlate to the throttle setting!
Starts and idles better too
Oh and I put about 200ml of oil in it as that was very low as well.....
Hopefully this will rotavate the mess that is the back garden next spring.

I stand corrected, yet again .

It's actually a posh wrecking ball, nothing more. The lump that's in front of the yellow tube slides inside it and is connected by a cable to the winch that's on top of the tube. It all fastens on the front of a huge 360 that one of my chums brought down here from Teesside, (135tons all up weight at 40 mph), and is used to break up scrap steel that's poured out into shallow " lakes" in the steelworks.

And I sat for 7 hours waiting for it be unloaded...

Took a chance on buying a Brakesafe tester the other day in the hope it was only needing batteries, it was


I like these little squash together gel filled cable joiners

New double sided tape and batteries.

All good.

Bad news is it’s £200 for the annual calibration cert

Those gel connections are fantastic. Many a time doing security alarm repairs the have saved my bacon

Bought a blow gun for the cab weeks ago and by virtue of being stuck at the services until tomorning I've finally managed to fit it:




Tapped into the air supply under the driver's seat:

Took less than 5 minutes and it means I can now bask in the glory of a dust and breadcrumb free workplace . Having paid £18 to the truck wash folk at the services the cab is looking like it should and won't be put to bed tomorrow looking like it's just done a shift at Manvers Main . The next tasks, weather permitting, are a good fettle of the driver's footwell and the dashboard and fit the wind deflectors that I bought months ago to the door windows. In between drinking pots of tea naturally .

And that's the window deflectors fitted:




And although it was splendid fun fitting them with M3 bolts, (not ideal when you have big hands ), being able to have the windows lowered by 3" at night should help with sleeping .

And the cab is now cleaned and polished to within 10 thou of its life:



Can finally settle down for the night with a beer and book number 2 in what is a fantastic trilogy about Alaxander the Great.

(Yesterday)

Replaced a faulty trailer bypass relay. What's worse than using Scotchlocks? Reusing Scotchlocks. Whoever fitted the original one just tapped into the taillight wiring really badly and then just taped it up.


Not my way of doing it, but they wanted it cheap and now.

Earlier in the year one of our mates fell into the shed (Don't ask) & cracked one of the acrylic windows. Seems the wind wasn't having it, So blew it through!

Grabbed some Ply & boarded it up for the time being

Just fitted the new seat covers that Santa brought for my OH's Fiesta:




They look good and match the paintwork so that's a few brownie points in the bank . He also brought her a forward and rearward facing camera system for the car so if Halfords ever answer the phone I'll get it booked in for fitting. Most things are well within my scope but not modern cars with God knows what kind of fancy electronics and air bags and such like...

The cameras came from Halfords, via Santa of course , and fitting was included in the price.

In truth I've never had any problems with them so it make sense to me to let them do the work.

I'll just leave this here....

My putrid pink bath. This is a temporary bathroom (3 years and counting) so I needed to replace the bath silicone as it was manky. I've had one of those plastic sealing strips for about 2.5 years but never fitted it
It was banana shaped and the sticky backed tape was now useless so I had to glue it on and weight it down!
