No. Not at all. Could be a half to a third of an hour normally in total. If the rayburns really hot it will run more.

Until the kids are older and in school and all they want is to sit infront of a screen like vegetables

Mine like books. They'll cope without a screen for a few hours!

a simplier way way would be gravity fed which uses no pumps but you can just uses bigger feed pipes

The store is gravity fed from the Rayburn. It needs to circulate from there round the rads without replumbing all of them!

One of my colleagues has had multiple long power-cuts over the last few days - there's a fault somewhere underground in a min cable they are struggling to find.

However, they recently bought an electric car - so they run an extension lead out to the car and can then plug up to 4kW of stuff into the other end. Drive car to work, plug in to one of our chargers during the day.

So simply buy a battery car

If they are standard car batteries you will need to redo your calculations.
Once they get below 10v they are pretty much done, keep going and you'll wreck the batteries.

To provide a long steady supply you need leisure batteries, designed to be discharged to much lower voltages.

Some standard car, but there are two leisure batteries in the shed as well (three if I take the one out of the caravan!)

and all it takes is buying extra radiators and plumbing them into the gravity fed system these can be set for open or close when needed by gate valves but these valves will need replacing as they will seize up without usage and wear and tear or by opening and closing them,

but most dont want to fit them they want simple central heating and both ways are simple

if a power cut does happen you have 3 rads that are still using a gravity fed system and not reliant on the power otherwise its buy a gen and use that for power of the pump and for the heating system a system that can be plugged in via extensions to connect power for pumps/zone valves and heat stat otherwise that system wont run correctly as its power based

the only warning i wall say is dont touch those rads they will be burn hot to the touch as it happens with gravity fed fired from stove heater fired all day long but gives high heat output from them

do not use plastic either the heat in the pipes will also be very red hot

But Gaz, how is this more simple than buying an inverter, sticking a plug on some wires and using batteries and rads I have?!

I understand the concept as my parents house had it for the old Aga anthracite boiler. It was useless though as the rads were not in places we wanted hot...
