Storms, powercuts and central heating

Tbf we've a few UPS's here. A BT one we got free as lots of power cuts so no phone in an emergency. That and no mobile phone signal. Then a couple more salvaged from work after being thrown out just because the batteries died

Even got a massive rack type UPS that was only scrapped because of a flood local to but not affecting it. Likely needs all new batteries by now. I did nothing with it other than bring it home. Might be easier than a gennie just for the central heating and telly.

My plan would be an REC2 between meter and cu for isolation like I've got now. Then replace the main switch in the cu with a changeover switch. More for neatness and cutting down on kit.

Planning to move my cu indoors from where it is now, up by the ceiling in the porch. Then a double or triple stacker board.

I understand the logic, but every change over switch Ive seen in the uk has an off position between the generator and supply.

The switch should be break before make to prevent backfeeding the grid.

Yes UK power networks get a little grumpy if you do that.
