Shopping List for New BUD Owner

My Computurn is a real PITA, there is no way to get anything out of the tailstock on it. With it being CNC the only thing you ever have in it is a centre but it is worked via hydraulics and there doesn't seem to be an ejector so I had to make up a kind of split collar that slips over the small amount of taper sticking out and it has to have a dia bigger than the barrel, I can now move the barrel back via the hydraulics and the collar hits off the tailstock body and ejects the centre.
Pic below of what I mean. Originally tried stilsons but couldn't get them to grip without damaging the centre and with it being a 5MT it has a heck of a grip.

Personally I would look for the real deal and get Loc-Line, I have had the cheapo ones before and the quality is often poor.

Several of my centres do not have a sufficient length to self extract, i.e. no tang. I've a short length of 3/8" brass I pop in beforehand. A ball bearing might be a better choice though, self extracting, if you follow

Usually just 1/4" that I use on the lathes, the Chiron has 1/2" on it and it is massive.

The 1/4 would be better but the the thread on the lathe is 1/2 cant see a tap 1/2 to 1/4 bore.

You sure or are you just measuring across the hole and it is 1/2"? If so then it will be 1/4BSP, 1/2" BSP is a bit over 3/4" major Dia.

LOL commonly made mistake when you are not used to BSP or any other pipe thread sizing.

Either, the fitting on the end of the pipe screws off, i thought the female straight onto the pipe would be best.

I have the Deerskin ones and love them but @Richard. has said that the quality of them seems to vary now. Mine were certainly fine but not bought another pair yet so maybe they will not be so good.

My only pair before this where rhino tig gloves they were good but i wrecked them. I cant stop picking up things i've just welded . Will let you guys know what they are like worth a punt at £7.
