Thanks I'll try that later. I did think it would be strange to have passwords visible, my thinking was that admin may be able to enable that if it's a sole user of the machine. Anyway it's obviously not that.Try 983, found some garbled info online that suggested that.
Yes there's a few more wires there and it's connected directly into the back of the controller, where as the Z axis one goes through that line driver. Also you say the wiring is different, surely can't be that much different as you will just have 5 wires, 5v, 0v, A, B and Z. Unless the Y encoder is differential then in that case you would have 3 more wires.
Thanks Pete, I haven't yet pulled the encoder apart but I am going to, it's not readily accessible so I'll have to pull the motor etc out of the column to get to it.Scott have you tried stripping the encoder down? It might be just a dry joint. If It IS the diode that's at fault I will gladly strip one of mind down to see if it has a compatible part.
OK thanks for the explanation, I will get the encoder out of the motor, maybe later on or tomorrow and get it pulled apart to see what's going on.Ok, that is likely because it is differential so no need for the line driver, all the better for that.
You will have 5v, 0v, A+, A-, B+, B-, Z+ AND Z-.
I can't find the settings anywhere. Maybe I need to log in as administrator?Have a look at the X Y and Z parameters and see what they are and compare to the manual.
Not yet but I will do that when I get home.Have you tried contacting them (GSK) to see if there's a way to reset the admin password. Very often there's a link that can be removed to clear NVRAM.
