Yeh I'd done that but was looking in the wrong place. I've had a look through the parameters and there is nothing obvious to me but that's not saying much. Just going to look through the manual at the parameters I've seen for the X, Y and Z axis.
No initially I was looking in the menu where you have to log in, which you access part way through the initialisation sequence, whereas what I should have done is just let it load up and go into the parameters from there.
I didn't try the N button way of doing I just scrolled through them all. I did that with it on the E-stop.
OK, so for parameter 016, I make it out as "the multiplication for the pulse coder" is 2, and "the capacity of one cycle" is 8000 whatever the hell that means That's for the Z axis.
Ok, must mean the ballscrews are different then or maybe the gearing between motor and screw.
It will probably take a bit of reading and re-reading to work out what they are talking about in the manual but hopefully you will be able to work things out seeing as you have the parameters and can also look to see what the screws/gearing are.
Ideally you will get the encoder working again, maybe just some muck on the disc or pickup as was mentioned earlier by someone.
Aye, I assumed that the difference would be the screws, didn't consider gearing differences though, but I'll check the ratios and see if I can find out the pitch of the screws. Unfortunately I managed to break an Allen key in one of the grub screws in the encoder coupling so can't get the bugger off now.
Finally got the blighter off the motor, what a job it was and had to resort to butchery to do it. Anyway the bearing feels rough as a rough thing, also the disc which rotates with motor appears to have a little bit delamination in one of the tracks around it's circumference. It's hard to see in the picture but you might be able to make it out, in the slot just below the shaft.
