When ESAB actually had a factory and made electrodes in the UK, there was a guy on night shift who cycled in.
one day at the security barrier, he dropped this bike and couldn’t pick it back up. He had filled it with mercury from the lab!!!
I got rid of all the mercury in our Lab....there was a tank that was sealed by a bath of the stuff (open to atmosphere)....I was told that it alone exceeded the recommended dose......its highly toxic so I cant imagine what he was going to do with it.
