That's a different one. That's the drain hole for suds (I think), the one other is on the raised section directly under the crank. I don't think it'll be there on your model. I am expecting the one on mine to have used the same principle as mechanical fuel pump i.e spring loaded plunger pushes fluid out, the spring is repeatedly reset by a rotating lobe. Here we go pump pics and the drain hole.

I think that just let's the lubricating oil drain. The crank web is eccentric so could be used to drive an old fashioned lever operatedI have that hole also. But not for the side as it's not linked to the cutting area.

I still might be for suds if the rib I can see is a weir to hold back swarf.I think that just let's the lubricating oil drain. The crank web is eccentric so could be used to drive an old fashioned lever operated
fuel pump for suds. I did buy a pump to try but it never left the get round tuit pile....
Deffiantly not the case on my saw. But your saw may be different.

Hey mate not a problem you did say suds were untested.@123hotchef Sorry, I wasn't aware the tank was holed !!
I do not have these holes in my one. I suppose I could get drilling!View attachment 330349
A rod goes through those holes, with a grub screw or bolt locking it in position from above. Then just a block/arm to slide along the rod.
Spent many a hour adjusting the screwed rod to get the fall rate on the backstroke correct, only to have it change due temperature.I attached the weighted add on to see if it helps the cutting. Now the damper pot is full of oil it was not cutting as well as it did before, when it was empty.

Like you said new oil may be better, as it would be thinner especially of the same gradeSpent many a hour adjusting the screwed rod to get the fall rate on the backstroke correct, only to have it change due temperature.
Looks like you've got the limit switch working? Were the weights with the saw, or is it your make? Dead posh .... adjustable evenI attached the weighted add on to see if it helps the cutting. Now the damper pot is full of oil it was not cutting as well as it did before, when it was empty.

Wide range multigrade, whatever that is 1000/5W ??Like you said new oil may be better, as it would be thinner especially of the same grade
Yes the limit switch is working, the DOL starter and Micro switch on the side is all working, I just need to make a braket and weld it onto the bow stay to hit the switch when the cut is finished.Looks like you've got the limit switch working? It's quite interesting really.....I've being using mine for the past 25yrs and never given it much thought. But the thread has made me look at it in new light....Same with my old ML7. It's interesting when its new to someone else.
Talking of which my Clarke bench grinder bearings have started making a bit of a noise and they're relatively new at 25yrs. Stuff just doesn't last, does it?
I have used 10/40 in there right now, whats 1000/5w?Wide range multigrade, whatever that is 1000/5W ??
dont even bother with the dashpot. the blades last ages without . it i presume you have the blade cutting in the forward motionLike you said new oil may be better, as it would be thinner especially of the same grade
