So first off... WOW it's been 2 years.... that flew and I can't believe it's still not going hahaha. Soon tm
A bit of a hodge podge of work on the car today.
Made a start at the sills and figuring out if they need filler and a rub down or some welding. The passenger side was particularly bad as the door had started to corrode and the rust and crap was leaking out onto the sill.
A go with a grey scotch pad and then some phosphoric acid made light work of the rust and I think I should be able to get away with painting these (except for one small patch on the passenger side)
I also made a start at two rust spots on the roof caused by some little sh1t jumping on the roof at some stage
A sand down and acid again and these were in a good spot.
I wasn't taking out the paint today so just give the repairs a dart with some aerosol primer.

Tackling the rear sill rails and the jacking point reinforcement.
Inner liner removed and cut out any corrosion.
All repaired.
Then pulled off most of the sill and outer rail section. I'll replace this section next.

Then engine progress, back from the machine shop with the block leveled
, heads decked,
And the crank polished
Then 13Kg of weight reduction with the addition of a 2Kg race battery.

Finally got around to fitting the new battery, riv nuts are the job. Leaving some extra slack in the cable as I want to move the kill switch up to the centre console.
Next up this week is to finally get my crumbling rear arches and corroded inner arches repaired.
Will also make a stab at getting the inner floor section done too as this is my last chance to close everything out before winter sets in and I need to figure out dry storage.

Not on the engine, I'm getting Phillip Write motorsport to do it (and he's taking forever) but he's prioritising pPrshe work and engine builds that cost 8k when my engine is only worth 2500 to him. But it's a full 0 mile rebuild with everything being replaced that could be.That's a tidy little battery - looks like a motorbike battery?

Are you doing the rebuild yourself?
The battery yea it's pretty much a motorbike battery with 550 CCA, surge protection and some short circuit magic and then the fact that it's dry cell so less risk if there's an off at some point.

TFR mixed 3:1 with water allowed to soak and cleaned with an alloy wheel brush. Repeated the process 3-4 times took about an hour
So last BIG job with welding to be done as I start to wrap this up after beat 2 years.

It's still WIP and I got replacement sills from a donor that were dickied up before getting them ready to be fitted.
Marking off the line for the donor arches and cutting out the mad material to see what Iis left to work with.
