Essentially the electric car version of a DMF!View attachment 435064View attachment 435065View attachment 435066It needs adapting with a damper plate to are out some of the shock load.
if only it had a flywheel ! And the space.
Or simply set the drive rate into eco mode ??????Sounds like there is potential for aftermarket intervention there . . .
Stick a damper on the accelerator pedal - make it slower to depress (not return tho!) so future applications of instant full torque can't be so easily applied.
There are some good photos on these EV Breakers sites:Would you mind putting up any photos you can of the gearbox please while you have the van apart ?
Really ? I wish I had seen them! I could use some spare SAFT NiCad batteries for my old Berlingo Electrique....@eddie49 Was there ever a resolution of the problem ?
Recently there have been a number of early Electric Berlingos on e-bay at 99p !
If I see any more I'll let you know on here.Really ? I wish I had seen them!
That is a thought... I could do that at the transmission-end of the new sleeve, and then use that shaft as a broach to size the hole. What would be the chances you could shrink the splines a small amount by putting a good hot run of weld around the outside near each end?
I did it with the slightly oversize ends of a solid car axle, where the king pins fit. It worked, shrunk them enough that I could run a reamer through to clean the hole to the exact size required.
But how many clutches have you changed that have ripped the splines out of the center? I have changed hundreds if not thousands and have never come across it yet I have changed several spline couplings on Citroen/Peugeot Talbot cars , considering the relatively few of them I have worked on versus the failure rate there was definitely a problem !!Neither has every other manufacturer using one on a clutch plate then

If I had realised you were near Newbury I would have been interested in getting one of those two.Thank you for those links. I wish I had known they were for sale, especially the two in Newbury - just down the road from me!
A total of 7 sold within one month - that is quite a chunk out of the 17 Berlingo Electriques left, with 5 taxed and 12 SORNed.
Being already registered with DVLA as taxation class "Electric", having heavy-duty springs, simple electronics, and being MOT Exempt makes all these vans ideal candidates for upgrades or onward DIY EV conversions.
