oh man i found the boat you are doing up on youtube back in 2017 gbp 4450
I've always wanted to live on a dutch barge...morring anywhere in the south is basically a joke (and thats if you can find a mooring).Like all open sea crossings you'd have to chose your timing. I've had some bloody rough crossings to Ireland.
I watched a programme where they took a narrowboat across the channel........they actually strapped two together....they are definitely not built for the sea and not powerful either....They made it but they got wet.I've always wanted to live on a dutch barge...morring anywhere in the south is basically a joke (and thats if you can find a mooring).
I was reading about someone who imported their barge...bought in Holland...choose their weather window and had someone sail it over. I think that would be very scary...they aren't meant for the high seas (bows are usually designed for river cruising!)
Hitler had a similar idea with his Operation Sealion invasion plan, no doubt if he had gone ahead more would have drowned before being shot on the beaches or even worse.I've always wanted to live on a dutch barge...morring anywhere in the south is basically a joke (and thats if you can find a mooring).

Hi kidaany updates on this project??
you had a bit of a health issue arise and thats why you down scaling i see.
There was a chap in Newbury used to bring them across quite regularly to do up and sell I think. They make really nice house-boats :being twice the width of a narrow-boat boat but you are limited to where you can go. Many of the canals have narrow locks.I've always wanted to live on a dutch barge...morring anywhere in the south is basically a joke (and thats if you can find a mooring).
