There's quite a bit of bottom tooling, enough to form a full run, and lots to keep the door propped open with.
There's a strip light behind the top plate, thats the switch for it!
I'll have a look at the motor tomorrow.

the back stops fit on the lower tool clamp bolts just a plate with 2 slotted out holes in with a round bar sticking out, if you want i'll sketch it

It would be worth pulling the rear guard off if fitted, and greasing the long rod that the handle fits to (its threaded), if its been motorised its probably had a bit of use and is about the only thing i ever really had problems with on a promecam, check the oil while your in there and look for leaks, especially now its been on its travels

What's the bright round knob behind the windy handle/motor box? Its knurled but i havnt messed about with it..yet.

Put a plug on it today!

Everything seems to work fine. Sussed out the handle that locks the bottom V in the right place - got it set to give a 6mm gap from the top of the V block to the top tooling. Shoved a bit of 3mm plate in, 100ish wide, bends no probs, force guage hardly shifts.
Stuck a piece of 3mm plate in 400ish wide, V is 20mm at the widest point. Bends it to nearly 90, but not quite square. The guage reads 25T, so presume thats all it will do Had the knurled twisty handle screwed up tight, so it was giving full tonnage. With nothing in, the top tool passes into the V block, so its not an issue with machine limits.

Took the top of the NC box. stripped it all off, which leaves a shaft sticking out of the side of the machine. The shaft is internally threaded - it won't turn, but pulls out and springs back in. Presume this is the fine tuning for the limits on the machine? Need to get rid of the box and stick a handle on but cant work this bit out. The motor thingy winds a threaded bar in and out of the end of the tube - perhaps this pulls out/pushes in the sprung bar? Dunno.

That adjustment is for fine tuning bottom beam position, from memory the bar sticking out that normally has the handle on, moves a lever inside the machine to give the adjustment, i think it runs in a tube, I remember stripping one that had seized once, thats why I suggested greasing it, it was a long time ago though. you wont get control of the bend angle until it can be adjusted.
probably you'll have to re engineer that bit to use it manually,

I'll have a look underneath but theres nothing obvious. Might end up taking some bits apart. How much adjustment can be had from the fine tuning to the bottom beam?

On the Adira I had, which is a Clone of the Promecam there was about 150mm of adjustment, you should be able to back the handle off, press the pedal and then wind the beam up into the tool.

20mm vee is fairly tight, put a 30 in and youll get much more.

150mm of adjustment seems a lot? I presume the machine has an over pressure limit so when it reaches 25 tonnes the oil wont exurt any more force on the rams?

You can get a lot of different tooling for presses, not just bending, but redman punches, flattening and dutch folding tools, deep punches, tall upstanding vee's etc. etc, all will require different beam settings, the hyd pump will have a blow off valve, but you should set the bending force (tonnage) off the chart to suit the tooling using the hand knob, although most presses tend to have that wound in, and the operators set the bend depth on the rising beam, its not really the correct way though.

I've been round the back This is the working end of the windy handle lever jobby that had the cnc jobbie on. The bar pulls in and out, acting on the lever thing which in turn disappears into the hydraulics.

Am i right in thinking that this lever is the fine tuning for the tonnage, or for the stroke? I've been happily bending away, just by careful setting of the knurled force setting knob thing on the left hand side.



The second picture needs rotating 90 degree to the left to get it in the correct orientation, but it crops the picture down. The lever with the spring on it is the bit that sticks out of the machine that had the cnc thing on.

Yep. its the stroke, the handle winds it in and out, clockwise for up.

That how I do it, the tonnage knob is supposed to be set to the correct pressure for the tooling, as per the chart on the machine, in reality the knob gets wound all the way in and never adjusted again, the danger is that its easy to strain the tooling and the press frame if the stroke is too long with full tonnage.
