Treated myself to a pressbrake for folding up small items - brackets, small boxes, bits and pieces that we'd otherwise go about making in a different and more time consuming manner, or sub out.
Its a 25T 1.2m Prome cam, used but in decent order. Looks like it will do 3mm ok over full length, and possible 5mm over shorter lengths. Some say it might do 10mm. That would be good.
So, not having extensive knowledge on them, i have a few questions. These are just for starters....
There's no light guards. Should it have them?
So, V tooling in bottom 'bolster?' and top tooling fitted to the fingers. I've got my head around the bending forces chart, giving different bottom V sizes etc. Does the top tooling change as the bottom V sizes changes?
It's an upstroke press - would have prefered downstroke, and will get a downstroke when i upgrade. Can't remember seeing a backstop on it, is s uch a machine likely to have one/facility to add one?
Has a windy handle on the side. I presume this is to bring the bottom tool up somewhere near before pressing? I can't find any manuals - otherwise i'm sure a lot of these questions could be answered.
How do you work out how much material you need to make a box say, allowing for the bend radii?
I'll leave it at that for now.
