Your pictures aren't showing unfortunately. Can I ask how much Herbert quoted you? For some reason I never thought to contact them. I've never seen another one for sale since getting this so I reckon you'll be waiting a while for another one on eBay.

Mine has a 1/3 HP 4 pole (1425 rpm) motor 3 phase motor which explains the half speeds.

Apologies I've changed the permissions on these and trying again, as they are showing up when I'm logged in, but not when I'm not

The pulleys are north of £120, each and in the case of the smaller pulley needed to be manufactured. Not bad for a drill that was £60 in the first place.

A bit grubby but should clean up a treat.

A hundred quid for a couple of pulleys! I suppose it's not really too shocking for an obsolete part but it still feels like a lot, I'll make my own I think, good to have it confirmed that's how they worked anyway.

@Maker , goggling around brought up this when looking for info, sorry for old thread resurrection - what's the procedure for dropping the chuck out without dismantling the rest if it exists? - Guessing its on an MT2?
Appreciate any info on that.

Anyway, pics of oiler, let me know if you need specific dims etc, the thread you can work out of course, On a quick google I got this, but dri rather than on demand, not sure if that can be modified. The original literally provides a drop on demand of pulling the top cap - lovely thing. Easy to see how they don't survive, screw them down too hard against the cork washers and the glass will split.

I think it's a Jacobs 2 taper on the spindle, it's a male taper anyway, you can see it in the first couple of posts. The *right* way to take the chuck off is with a pair of chuck wedges, like this (Random picture from the web):

A single wedge, pry bar, hammer etc can bend the taper. I can't remember how I got mine off but I don't have any chuck wedges and it was already ********...


Cheers for the oiler pictures, I'll draw it up in Fusion tomorrow. Don't need specific dimensions, just want it proportionally about right, I'll make it match whatever glass tube is easily available.

I just noticed there's a modification on this drill I made before I started this thread, might as well include it for completeness' sake:

The threaded shaft to tension the belt is slightly bent, too bent to turn it with the original knob so I replaced it with a hex to put a spanner on:

I do have to be careful not to put too much tension on it now, it doesn't take much to run without slipping.
